Jesolo - The Butterfly Effect?

avatar
(Edited)

This week's walk is to the beautiful seaside tourist town of Jesolo in Italy, however it was cut short after a huge storm came and we needed to make a run for it.

With the weather not being so good, we decided go and head for a walk around Jesolo and visit an arcade center for the kids to play in on the main street.

If you do not know Jesolo, it is a popular tourist destination with a huge sandy beach and a main road running inside abit but parallel to it with lots of nice eateries, shops and attractions for people to walk up and down.

I have been many times and they also have a huge Big Wheel giving some great views, although not nice if you do not like heights. The town is not far from Venice, but I don't think it is as popular for sure.

After parking, we heading onto the main street and toward our destination. It was still dry at this point but not so sunny. Possibly we were in the eye of the storm, I didnt check the weather too closely.

We were then shocked to see that a huge tree had fallen directly on the arcade center we had planned fo visit. It had hit the balcony of one person living above there and a large crowd were gathered.

The fire brigade were also there with a chainsaw cutting away at the 🌲 tree on their lift ramp thingy. Luckily no one had been hurt or injured as we could see.

We could only wonder if this was The Butterfly Effect in action? What if we had come earlier and it had fallen while we were there?

It is best not to think about these things, but it looks like a lucky escape.

The kids saddened not being able to play and plans changed, we headed to a nearby ice parlor. It is well known the best ice cream is from Italy and in Jesolo this was clear to see.

At €2 a scoop, it was the priciest ice cream we have bought this season, but it was great tasting and worth it.

The main street is lined with, I think pine trees which provide some great shade from the hot summer sun and provides some reprieve from the heat. We continued our walk and were checking out some of the many places to eat along the way.

All of the shops and restaurants have a nice cosy and enticing feel to them and makes you feel at home. As the stormy weather was approaching, the streets became more empty.

I spotted an English pub even and went over to check it out.

The pub was closed as it seems it opens only from 6pm and maybe was staying closed because of the coming storm. The pub was called The Black Cat which seemed a cute name.

I haven't been to an English pub in a few years, so was curious what was on the menu. I dont know if you can see from the menu, but there was your usual fare of burgers and chips type thing.

I saw they also had a breakfast menu and an English Breakfast that cost €15.

The storm was closing in and a shopkeeper was packing everything away and told us to take some cover. We decided to head back go a restaurant we saw that looked a good place to see out the storm.

Once there, we sat down and checked out the menu.

That concludes my Wednesday Walk for today!

how are you dear friend @mypathtofire good morning
What a pity you had to interrupt your walk because of the big storm. If it is better not to think negatively, although for the children the change was positive, they obtained exquisite ice creams
beautiful photographs, I appreciate that you have shared with us
happy wednesday walk

First, glad no one was hurt!
Maybe your kids were sad not able to play but I think ice cream pacify it 😁.

2pounds for a scoop? Yeah would agree that was expensive 😂

It was lucky no-one was hurt. Thank goodness.

Yeah the ice cream worked a treat. It was pricey I thought, but prices of everything is going up I guess.

Wow, that is pretty crazy. We had some tornadoes come through the state a week or so ago and they did a lot of damage. I know what it can be like for a tree to fall like that. I've had to cut a few of them up for my parents. I'm glad no one was hurt. Those trees look really similar to the white pines we had around our house when I was a kid.

Yeah its crazy the power of nature sometimes. I think they needs bigger chainsaw here though as it looked quite small.

These trees are great though normally, great shade in the summertime. They all over our campsite.

Chainsaws scare me. They probably don't get this a lot, so it's likely they don't have the proper tools. Did you see the base of the tree? Did it come out by the roots or did it break?

0

Yeah that's true, they didn't seem well equipped. I couldn't get to or see the base of the tree as it was cordoned off by the Carabinieri.

Yes it caused some big damage to the apartment that hit their balcony. Plus damage to the arcade. Lucky noone was hurt. All in all though, we had a lovely afternoon out.

A wonderful lucky walk, it seems. The summer is already over, and we are going to have cold weather.
I think there will be another post about the food at that restaurant))

Yes it was a lucky one. The weather has turned cooler but so far is very nice, not too hot or too cold. Hopefully a few more weeks of this. 😃

I don't review this restaurant, but most are so good here, food and service.

It’s only an English pub if they serve a full Sunday roast dinner! 🤣
Shame about the arcade but any excuse for an Italian ice cream is a good excuse.

Oh I didn't check the roast dinner, but will look out for that next time. I was wondering if there might be an expat community here or if it's Italian run.

Got to be expats. No Italian would choose to cook English food over their own. I think there is probably a law against it 🤣

Fortunately, there were no injuries! It would be truly dreadful to be involved in such accidents 😖

It appears that claw machines are gaining popularity worldwide?
I know that there are "addicts" that would spend hours in the arcade catching things that they don't particularly want.

0

avatar

Yes, it was lucky that no one was hurt, that's the main thing.

I am not playing the claw games myself, but my kids like to for some reason. I also do not want the prizes on offer either 😅. With claw games, it reminds me of the start of the squid games where they win on the claw game at the start.

0

avatar

Yeah I never understood the joy of it, it's not like the prizes are entirely enticing for me to spend hours on the machine! Probably the real joy is from the satisfaction of actually "clawing" out the item! 😅

I think it takes a great talent to get them out! Lol

Haha I just chance upon a video on Instagram (they heard our conversation) with regards to the Claw Machine. It is a hack whereby you use a very strong magnet to forcibly drag the items into the drop zone 😱 Of course this would only apply to magnetic items within the machine such as electronics.
