This is my post for #freewriters Tuesday prompt let's visit hosted by @daily.prompt

This morning my husband came out to see what I have been doing while he was gone. I passed the inspection, joking, anyway, the dogs came out with him and the one in the pic will not walk if a burr gets stuck to her. She grabs it with her mouth, gets it unstuck, and spits it out, one at a time. This type of burr is about the size of one soft thing from a feather and is about 1/4 inch long if you brush against the plant 100s of them can stick to you. We can not figure out how she even knows they are there.

After letting her get several off I told my husband that if he ever wanted to go rest, he better take her by the collar. He let her get a few more, then grabbed her collar.

He came home from his trip yesterday afternoon and I do not think that he will ever again tell his sister, let's visit your daughter in South Carolina. Last night he said he was tired many many times and the first thing this morning he said it.

He snores so he bought an air mattress and a tent so he could sleep in their backyard. He ended up putting his tent up in their basement.

As he came in the door, he says to me. "It is a good thing that you did not go, you would have died". The high was 55 to 58. It has been in the 80s here. He took a light jacket with him but luckily he took a thick long sleeve shirt. So he got a taste of if it gets this cold at the end of May, how are the winters going to be.

He said he could see areas where they are putting in new developments so it is not going to be a small town for long. He did not seem to be very impressed with the place, but he still would like to move somewhere that is not as developed as it is here.

My husband has never been the romantic type, this is what he brought back for me. He had never seen a tree like this so he brought me a piece to see. To me, that is special.

I agree, that is a special gift! My husband isn't big on gifts any more, so I would be quite content with something like that, too.

I would rather have this than a tee shirt that said he was in S Carolina.

Love it! not the stick-tights (poor dog!) - in the midwest we have Virginia stickseed, Hackelia virginiana, a nightmare for dogs. Your dog at least appears to be a short-hair. Collies.... no comment....
You didn't show us the "burr" but the way hundreds of seeds latch onto a passerby sounds like this plant.

Virginia stickseed inhabits moist deciduous forests, usually in areas of high-pH substrate. It was important in Cherokee herbal medicine. The crushed roots were mixed with bear oil and used to treat skin cancers, a tea of the plant was used to treat kidney conditions and improve memory, and the plant was used in love charms. https://gobotany.nativeplanttrust.org/species/hackelia/virginiana/

Love your husband's souvenir!

Love the blue berries - looks like eastern red cedar -

Junipers are members of the Cypress family and are native to Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. Their 'berries', which are actually seed cones with very fleshy, tight scales, were the original flavoring for gin.

Your husband is a keeper. :)
For Valentine's Day, mine knew just what I'd appreciate most.
A little rock from the parking lot at the barber's shop. :)

We looked the tree branch up and found out it was a Juniper, but we did not know what type of juniper so thank you.

These are the burrs, their size is why we can not figure out how she knows when one gets on her.

Our husbands were cut from the same mold, about 10 years ago mine gave me this rock and it was also for Valintines Day.
