This is my post for #freewriters Saturday prompt chimpanzee party hosted by @daily.prompt

This happened in the early 1990s, I would call it a real chimpanzee party. We were in this boat in the ocean like we are in the above photo. We had been fishing all day and had our last set roped in. This is when you pull the net in and leave the fish in it, we ice them as we go.

By the time we got back to the inlet, the wind had picked up from the southeast and the tide was still ebbing. The inlet was too rough for us to come back in it, we would have to wait on the tide to change. We stayed just outside of the north jetty. We decided while we wait we would clear the net of the fish so I set the buoy over the side of the boat to get it out of our way.

The tide changed and we could safely come in. When we got to the channel that led to our fish house and a different one we saw a Marine Patrol standing in the doorway of the other fish house. He was watching us and when we turned to go to the other fish house he jumped from the fish house door to the dock, his feet went straight up in the air and he came down on his back but jumped up and ran to our fish house.

We then knew he was after us. He came running down the dock like we were going to get away from him. He tried to tell us that we set our net just outside of the inlet. There is a law that all net fishing had to be at least one mile in all directions of the inlet. We explained to him what we were doing and you could see the excitement leave his face. He thought he had a couple of hard core criminals.

Now he was upset because he did not get this big bust that he thought was a sure thing. He started checking everything but could not find anything wrong. We had over 1,500 pounds of fish and he had to go through them all making sure none were short or fish we could not sell. Again he found nothing wrong. He had to tuck his Chimpanzee tail between his legs and hobble back down the dock.

Oh, wow ... well, when you act like a chimp on a power trip instead of a good officer protecting and serving, disappointment is inevitable. Served him right!

We think the people on the jetty could see our big red buoy over the side of the boat and they were convinced we had our net out and called the law. They might have gotten multiple calls.

People are too busy meddling in other people's business and not enjoying their own lives if MULTIPLE CALLS were involved. Granted, I'm biased because I know how careful you are about all of the requirements, but STILL...

That sounds like a real jerk. LoL
I'm glad that you came out well. Some people look for any reason to attack innocent people. He was one.

We have had some bad lawmen but thankfully we have had more decent ones. They seem to know which people do their best to not break the law so other than a safety check, they will leave us alone.
