Every evening I get Rudy out of his cage and he sits beside me in my chair while he eats his snacks. Last night he ate some of his snacks and I guess he wanted to go exploring, in one leap he jumped from sitting beside me to the footrest of my chair and before I could grab him, he was on the floor. His little feet were going a hundred miles an hour but he was not moving, he was slipping on the wood floor.

I screamed what must have sounded like deadly words to one of the dogs because she came running towards Rudy, I thought she was going to catch him but somehow Rudy got traction and was off with me right behind him. My husband yelled at the dog and she stopped. Rudy ran into the bedroom and I slammed the door shut, I was hoping he would not run under the bed, but he didn't he ran into the bathroom and I got that door shut before he could run back out.

Round and round we went, me trying to catch him, by this time he was wound up and a lot faster than me. My husband came in and sat down at one end of the room and me at the other. I think Rudy thought it was a game, running from one of us to the other and not letting either of us catch him. My husband's arms were bleeding from Rudy's toenails, he would run and jump on him but before my husband could grab him, he would be back over to me, he is a little stinker and must be the fastest rabbit ever.

I decided this game he was playing was not working for us to catch him, so I went back to my chair and got his snack bowl and his favorite shirt that I carried him in. I laid the shirt on the floor and put his snack bowl in the middle of it, several times he would come close but would not get on the shirt. After many tries, he finally got on the shirt far enough that I could fold it over him and carry him back to his cage.

I don't want to leave him in his cage all of the time because I think he needs to be taken out each evening and petted so he does not become mean but from now on when I take him out of the cage he will be put in a box and I will give him his snack in the box on my lap. I will see how this works because my nerves can not take another day like that one.
