Someone made a group on another social media site in my town for lost pets. If you have lost your pet you can post it to their site and if someone has seen it or any lost pet they can post and try to reunite with the owners. If they can not hold it for them would they take it either to their vet, which they list the name, or take it to Halo which is a no kill shelter, and they state that the places have been notified about their lost dog and they will hold it until the owners can pick it up. I understand them not being able to take it home because I have 2 dogs and I would be afraid they might fight with a strange dog being brought home.
Lately, I have been seeing where the people posting are getting criticized for their pet getting loose, and more and more people want to stir it up by calling the owners irresponsible pet owners and even worse things like this pet should not be returned and they should never own another pet. These people who lost their pets are already hurting, and so is the pet, or they would not be posting to get their pets back.
Dogs sometimes get loose, they can run out as soon as the door is opened or dig a hole under the fence, it does not matter how the dog got out, it is loose and stands a good chance of being hit by a car if not caught by a caring person. They also say if the dog is friendly, and some say things like, if you kneel down and call their name they will come to you, or some other info to help catch it.
I will do whatever I can to get a stray dog into my car and I would post that I have it to all of the local groups and call the vets in my town, Halo, and the Humane Society which is in the next biggest town. These dogs have a home and people they love and want to go home to them.
There is no reason to make others feel bad when they are feeling bad already. If they were irresponsible they would not be posting that the pet is gone, they would not care. All these rude comments are doing is making someone feel worse than they already feel and in my opinion, making you the mean commenter look like a complete a-hole.

Dogs getting loose once in a while, but in my town there are also a couple dogs whose owners just do not care and let them run loose.
I can see letting your dog run, IF you live in a rural area but not in towns like mine. Here in "the old days" people used to let their dogs run loose, this was before all the developments went in, but in today's world with all of the cars you can not do it and if you do, I can see where you would be labeled irresponsible.
The people I am talking about say the dog ran out the door or something like
that, I do not think people who let their dogs run would be posting that it got out and they are looking for it. There is no need for meanness when someone is looking for their pet.
