This is my post for #freewriters 2305 prompt hot dip hosted by @mariannewest

Little Rudy is not so little but still likes to have his time either sitting next to me or on me, I know I posted about him just a few days ago but I think he has grown more since then.

When he looks at me with those big brown eyes, my heart melts like a bowl of hot dip. I can not even let the thought of releasing him enter my head. I knew I would be this way with him if I could not release him when he was younger and around other rabbits.

When I first got him I was with the belief that he is a wild rabbit and belongs in the wild.

When I read that it was not advisable to release a lone baby rabbit, the others would not accept him, and him being all alone broke my heart. So I changed the way I was thinking about him.

He has only been outside one time and knows nothing about what it takes to stay alive, he thinks dogs are friends. He would not know where to get water but food would be plentiful here in the yard.

But if he comes in the yard, the dogs will get him. I know I said he thinks the dogs are his friend, but I think the dogs look at him and see food.

I have been noticing in the morning when it is time for him to go to bed, he will move his little box "house" so the door was facing the wall. I think the light was shining in his doorway so I sewed a hem on a piece of rag and ran a dowel rod through it and zip tied it to the box. Now he leaves his house in one spot and can sleep in the dark.

I remember your first post about him, and how you thought he would be a goner the next morning, but here he is, in your lap. I think this is one of the sweetest stories I've ever been told.

@owasco thank you. Everyone told me that he would not make it, I am so glad that I proved them wrong, I love him so much, and I hate having to keep him in a cage but even though they seem friendly, I am afraid the dogs will hurt him.
