5 minute freewrite 2241 prompt *bean counter*

This is my post for #freewriters 2241 prompt bean counter hosted by @mariannewest and @daily.prompt

For years when we net fished we never counted our fish, we could look at them and be pretty close as to how many pounds we had.

Since the net ban, my husband has wanted me to count my fish and I will not do it. He thinks it is me being stubborn but it is because I can count say 8 fish and an hour later I am wondering if I had 7 or 8.

Before I started fishing my own boat, I fished with my husband, rowing this 20-foot boat while he cast netted for goats from the bow. After we cleared the net I would put them on ice.

He wanted me to count them. I did this and would tell him the amount and each time he would add that number to the next catch and so on. I could not remember how many we had but I could tell you how many pounds was there.

When we got trolling motors and mounted them on the bow of the boat, we could drive with one foot and cast net in our own boats. If we pulled up to each other, the first thing he would say to me was how many goats did you catch and I would answer in pounds.

Pompano fishing he is the same way, always wanting to know how many head I have. We get paid by the pound so this makes as much sense as being a bean counter.....

I hope I am not getting my hopes up to high, but the little guy seems to doing great.

After giving him all of the goat's milk that he wanted

he crawled up to my armpit and took a nap.

After he woke, I tried to give him some greens but he would not eat it. I then dipped the leaf into a cup of water and held it up to his mouth, he latched onto it, the hole you see is how much he ate, he likes his greens wet.

I put a small plastic lid upside down and filled it with water. I placed his greens in the water. I set him near it and saw him take two drinks but he did not eat, I am going to leave it there for him.
