This is my post for #freewriters 2197 prompt peace on Mars hosted by @mariannewest and @daily.prompt

What is on Mars to wish that there be peace on it? This seems to be a crazy prompt, If I was to wish for peace on a planet I would wish for peace on Earth. Why do we want to fight each other? I know it is over land, but once a land is known to have its boundaries laid out then this is your land, you should not be allowed to say I want your land so I am going to kill people until you give it to me.

What will it come to? If I think my neighbor's yard is better than mine, should I tell them that I will kill them if they do not give me their property? Or maybe they drive a nicer car than I drive, can I go take it because I am bigger than they are? When will all of this nonsense end? I have so many questions but no answers.

I just know killing innocent people has to stop. They have nothing to do with whatever these Governments are fighting over. Put their Presidents in a room and let them battle it out.

If one day we do go to Mars, will there be a huge war over who gets what part of the planet? If so there will never be peace on Mars.

There are lots of science fiction movies, games, and novels about humans on Mars and how not-very-peaceful it can be.

Robert A. Heinlein's Red Planet depicts the conflicts of colonies and administrators along with a depiction of a Martian race which already lives there, although the ideas of canals are quaint with our better understanding of Martian topography today. While there is conflict and violence, the outcome is good.

The Red Faction game series depicts a much more violent revolutionary outbreak of Martian mining colonists against their corporate overlords. This is much more brutal, and the ongoing series of entries suggests no peace on Mars.

There was a strange Doctor Who episode (even by Doctor Who standards) entitled The Waters of Mars where a virus-like entity in a melting martian glacier has decidedly not-peaceful intentions toward the scientists establishing a base there.

My point was why do we have to have wars, why can't we live in peace?

I love Doctor Who but I don't remember this one, I googled it and I have not seen many episodes with this Doctor. I liked the 2nd doctor Patrick Troughton.

I just wish we lived in a world of peace.
I liked this Doctor Patrick Troughton, I do not think I have seen The Waters of Mars.
