This is my post for #freewriters 2196 prompt no referral hosted by @mariannewest and @daily.prompt.
I copied the above picture from

When I saw this prompt my first thought was about applying for a new job with no referral which many places do not like, they want to know your work history before hiring you. But I decided to Google no referral and see if there is another way to use it and was surprised to find that it has to do with medical insurance.

You can not get an appointment with my pain management doctor if you do not have a referral from another doctor, so no referral means you have to find another doctor to treat your pain. I thought he was only for my back pain so I did not say anything to him about the pain that I had been having in my right hand, it had gotten unbearable and a couple of months ago I said something to him about it, and he asked how long it had been bothering me and I told him several months and he wanted to know why I did not say anything to him. I told him it was because it was my hand, not my back. He looked at me and said, "I take care of all pain, if you have pain anywhere, tell me".

He made me an appointment for that week and when it was time for it he gave me a cortisone shot in it. It HURT and it also did not work. I waited a month before telling him that I could not take the pain in it anymore. I got another shot in it, this time in a different place, it HURT worse than the first one. This time it helped somewhat. I was not able to brush my hair with my right hand, now I can but there is still pain but not unbearable pain. I will put up with this pain as long as I can before telling him to give me another shot. The only things that I do that are still unbearable is using a hammer or drilling something, doing other things hurts but I can do them.

Praying that you get the RIGHT treatment ... and it seems like that doctor does care...

Thank you, but I don't think there is another treatment, he says it is arthritis. He does care and has taken very good care of me. He has done procedures that would have cost us thousands of dollars and he did them for the cost of the supplies he used, I did not have insurance until I turned 65, and for years he only charged me 50 dollars a visit where he would normally get 125. Now that I am on Medicare he does not charge me anything.

Oh gosh! It's so hard to live with pain, but in your hand?! I know you must rely on it a LOT! I had a steroid shot in my foot once, and it also didn't help at all, but I could not walk for a week after getting that shot, so I never tried it again. I hope yours gets better on its own. Stranger things have happened.

He says it is arthritis so I do not think it will get any better, the shot helped some but I still have pain, it is just not as bad. I do not blame you for not letting the doctor do it again. Years ago he gave me this shot in my lower back and it was worse for several days, I let him do it again and I had the same reaction so I never let him do it again. IDK if I will let him give me another one in the hand, it was pretty painful.

they diagnosis all pain in joints at our age as arthritis. A few years ago I couuld not walk, my leg was swollen terribly, my knee in excruciating pain. I tried everything, and I mean everything, but when the orthopedist told me it was my arthritis acting up and wanted to jab me, I said no. Then I went for rolfing. Everything cleared right up. Now I get rolfed regularly, and have very little pain anywhere. It's expensive though. We need free rolfing clinics. That's a health initiative I could get behind.

Since when did a spell check start functioning here?

I am glad to hear that you got relief from your leg pain. I have never heard of rolfing, I will google what it is and the cost of it. Maybe my doctor will do it and let me pay it off, I am willing to try anything.
I did not know they had spell check on here, but it is good to know.
