This is my post for #freewriters 2193 prompt stake through the heart hosted by @mariannewest and @daily.prompt

My Mother was born in Fall River Massachusetts, when she was 14 she ran away and came to Florida where she met and married my Dad when she was 15.

She told me that her Mother had died in a house fire trying to save her youngest brother. But my daughter found her death certificate on Ancestry and it says
Margaret McCarthy Larrabee
BIRTH
1908
DEATH
26 Feb 1947 (aged 38–39)
Fall River, Bristol County, Massachusetts,
cause of death: cardiac failure while giving birth - the baby is buried in the same casket with her. Premature birth.

I wish we had found this before Mom passed away because now we are wondering if she survived the fire and went into labor because of it.

Lizzie Borden also lived in Fall River and I am wondering if my Grandmother knew her or was a friend of hers. Lizzie died in 1927. She is infamous because she killed her father and stepmother but it was not with a stake through the heart but a hatchet to the head. They removed her father's and stepmother's heads during the autopsy and had them in the courtroom as evidence. After an hour and a half of deliberation, the jury acquitted Lizzie Borden of the murders. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizzie_Borden

At the end of this month, I will be going to Fall River. I do not understand why my oldest daughter wants to wait until the end of October and go to Massachusetts, it is going to be so cold. I would not go but it might be my only chance to see where my mother was born and visit my Grandmother's grave.

She wants to go to all of the gory places like the Lizzie Borden house, I am not into all of that and told her if she wanted to do things that I didn't want to do I would walk around and look at all of the old buildings.

My grandmother knew of that killing -- she was 16 then -- and so my mother knew the story and sang the song to me to explain that people like the Menendez Brothers were not new.

I am not surprised your Grandmother knew of it, at the time it happened I bet it was news all over the US. My Grandfather moved here from Fall River when I was a child, I did not know of this then, but I wish I had so I could have questioned him if they knew her. Them being in the same town I am sure they heard about it but not sure if they actually knew her.
