Nowadays we are faced with non-stop distractions from all angles, and they seem to be more drastic now than they've ever been. And something tells me that this is just the beginning.

It's obvious that distractions are detrimental to our focus and mental well-being.

Everyone knows that

But then— why do we(many) still fall into the dilemma of getting distracted from what we(they) are supposed to be focused on?

Our health, wealth, and mental well-being are some of the main areas that need nonstop focus and attention.

It's not only for our survival but also for the survival of the human race as a whole.

However, only a few today are truly competent enough to concentrate actively on one substantial aspect of their life for a long period without getting derailed.

We all want a good life, not only that but a fulfilled one.

However, despite what we want, we(many) still mistake a fulfilled life for a life loaded with fun.

Although fun can be a portion of it, it's notable to know that it's not the whole cake.

Life can be fun, but I don't think a fulfilled life is fun, and tbh life is no fun unless you're distracted enough that you don't get to sit with yourself to think about it over and over again to realize that life is all about living it momentarily.

Because the moment we leave the moment to escape into another artificial reality either through drugs, alcohol, social media, adult content, reality shows, and on and on…we've lost that moment forever and it's nonrefundable.

It's why experience seems to be the best teacher, but what will one with zero experience be taught —Distractions?

if we are not focused and attentive to detail enough, we are sure to miss out on a lot of things and experiences that give our life meaning. And if care is not taken it(life) becomes meaningless.

This is why it's very important to not only be aware of all distractions derailing our lives but also, find a way to cut out distractions without leaving any room for them creeping back in like an obsessive ex-wife.

But how can we cut out distractions in our lives you may ask.

Well, there are only two ways I've been able to experience and also experiment with over the years and that is the popular cold turkey approach and the **slow and steady ** process which usually works better for some but doesn't for most people.

For me, I'm the cold turkey type or let's say I like myself to be that guy who says no and then stands on his word. My words mean so much to me, and testing yourself out can be good at times but in the case of distraction in my personal life, the thought of a cold turkey approach has always been frightening with zero fun.

At times I take it slow especially if they are deep-rooted in me like watching TV shows all through the night

Tbh, it's fun when it's not something important, but why focus on the unimportant stuff to leave out the essential ones?

That's like distracting ourselves from what matters.

Before you cut out or add anything to your life today ask yourself - what matters? Then you're well on your way to living a fulfilled life with less distraction.

Until next time

Different things end up working for different folks. Going cold turkey also puts your body through a really heavy stress since it's so dependent. I guess decreasing slowly is far less brutal and may be more permanent imho!
