Factors Determining Performance

Talent and effort feed each other, and originality/quality is born. I made this inference with literary performance, but it can also be applied to finance.

It is said that Aristotle wrote over 200 works. In ancient times, he almost created a library on his own. Unfortunately, very few of his works have survived to the present day. The number of works he produced emphasizes his genius.

Turkish poet Nazım Hikmet has a poetry book called Human Landscapes from My Homeland. The volume of this five-volume work, consisting of 12 thousand verses, surpasses what most poets wrote during their lifetime. Nazım Hikmet also wrote a dozen books of poetry, theater plays, and novels. The quality of his poems makes poetry lovers say, "I'm glad I know Turkish."

A lottery determines our talents and opportunities: Genetic factors, the family we were born into, the country, etc. Most of us have to settle for an average bonus. It is possible to improve our abilities by working hard. But of course, no one reading this article will be Aristotle.

In my 20s and 30s, I believed more in shortcuts and miraculous solutions. Now I know that performance is the combination of a thousand little things. We need to put a lot of energy into what we do. We should never need miracles because good and bad luck balance each other over time. (the law of large numbers)

Talented people tend to be lazy. They wonder why they should tire themselves out when they can do their work with little effort. Thus, their abilities partially atrophy over time. As in the story where the rabbit and the tortoise compete, the determined, mediocre ones can surpass the talented ones.

When combined with determination, talent begins to shine brightly. Of course, everything has an end. Maybe everyone has the right to be a little spoiled. Also, entropy does its job, and we age.

How can we adapt the issues I mentioned above to crypto? We must invest in ecosystems that will deliver high performance. Being good is not enough. Only the best can stay above water.

I've been at Hive for over five years. I've observed what's happening here through two bear markets and a bull market. The bear market negatively affected all of us, but those who continued to produce could stay above water. Apart from Hive, I had invested in Splinterlands and Leo Finance. Both communities' digital assets outperformed Hive.

How can we understand what a network/community produces? We can assume that those who do not report do not have any significant product. Splinterlands and Leo Finance announce developments to investors weekly. On the other hand, many projects that use resources from Decentralized Hive Funds (DHF) do not report even at the end of the quarter. This situation makes me think that DHF funds could be used more efficiently.

It takes many trials/iterations to create a helpful product. Those who win the jackpot are those who try hard.

Bear markets make things seem more challenging than they are. Hive performed similarly to other altcoins. Still, more projects need to be developed to move forward. It is assumed that new projects will arise and establish spontaneously in decentralized networks. However, there is no obstacle to carrying out individual and central initiatives together.

TL;DR

Lasting success does not occur by chance. It takes a lot of iteration to achieve perfection. Performance emerges when talent and effort support each other. Only some individuals may have the energy to perform well. We can make money by directing our financial resources to developing crypto ecosystems.

There is a saying in Turkish: "There is abundance in action." It fits in today's world, where success is determined by innovation. There must be a reason why young children chase after active miscreants.

Thank you for reading.

Your emphasis on the importance of continuous effort, even for those with talent, is a valuable reminder.
It's clear that investing in ecosystems with consistent performance is key, and your experience with Hive, Splinterlands, and Leo Finance highlights the significance of active development and transparent reporting.
The saying "There is abundance in action" rings true, especially in the fast-paced and innovative landscape of the crypto sphere.
