Hello, community of gardeners of the #Hivegarden world. It's a pleasure to be sharing this story today. This is my participation in #GardenJournal July Challenge. Guest post by @blanca56, @luckylaica, @ivycrafts.
In the city where I was born, and still spend the night, in recent days the agricultural and craft fairs were held in honor of the patron saint San Juan Bautista. There was a parade of floats, queens, and horseback riding. I did not attend any of the activities because I was sick, I had a bad flu and I even had a fever. It was the first time in my life that I did not attend, something strange, but it happened. My husband also got sick, but more mildly. On Saturday my daughter, who was in good health, went all afternoon to enjoy the fairs, very enthusiastic.

In the meantime, I was busy with my household chores. At one point I went to my garden, I noticed that the plants were stressed due to the high temperature that was occurring at that time. I started moving some of them inside the house and others in the garage, then I hydrated them because the heat was quite strong.

At about 7:00 pm my daughter arrived with some snacks to complement dinner, and one of the bags had a gift for me. I was surprised, the gift was some succulents and a little man pulling a wheelbarrow in iron. Wow, what a gift, I did not imagine that she had in mind to buy something for me at the fairs, so I gave her kisses and hugs for such a nice action.

I did a brief research of the succulents that my daughter gave me as a gift using an application to identify Picture this plants, at first excellent, that through a photograph gives the name and some characteristics for free, now after it is updated it starts charging for every detail.

This one is called Parodia haselbergii. It is a small flowering cactus. Very attractive for collectors.

Euphoria lactea dragon bones: The growth of its crest is used for reproduction, its sap is poisonous. Toxic to skin, eyes and mucous membranes.

My daughter says that there were so many succulents that she had a hard time deciding which one to buy, also she didn't have much money ha,ha,ha; however, she had a good choice. I really liked her gesture. I thank God that my children love and appreciate me.

Then since that day I decided to restructure the mini succulent garden I have, little by little I already have several succulents although I know few details about them.

I made a preparation to fertilize all the succulents (soil, sand, sawdust, and humus), I changed their containers, made some arrangements and watered them with a sprinkler.

I took a small cloth to handle the succulents with thorns, because I borrowed my gloves and have not yet received them back. Still some thorns penetrated my hands, then I had to remove them with tweezers.

I worked on each of my old plants. My sister gave me these three as a gift. I am happy because they have been with me for more than a year, they have not rotted or dried out. As I fertilized the soil, they can improve their appearance. Among them is the Jade that grows like a little tree. I also moved them because the temperature is too high, now they are in the living room. I set up a metal table with glass in two compartments.

This matero in the shape of a rooster, was given to me several months ago by my daughter. This plant is called Kalanchoe dulcamara. In Venezuela, it is known as "hoja de aire", "siempre viva” or "yerba de bruja". It is originally from Madagascar, it is an invasive exotic plant. It is a houseplant is considered as a plant of fortune and abundance. In addition, it has health benefits.

This arrangement has several cactus, sword of san jorge, mala madre, yerba de bruja, aloe vera. I made this one several years ago.

This is a souvenir from my mother. She gave me one as a gift.

I tell you that I have this plant because my daughter, where she studies, has it in the windows of the big houses, then one day she saw a man nicknaming them, she told him to give her a branch, and he came to me with it. Then I cut several sections and planted them (12). Now I have 04. It is called You and Me. She knows I'm a plant fanatic, and occasionally surprises me with a cutting.

In this tray I placed several small leaves that fall and with water, they get rootlets and propagate in this way.

I love being a passionate gardener. Besides, this activity entertains me and I give each plant a chance to survive, because if they are not cared for with watering and pest control, they will perish. Now even more so with this high temperature.

Are you also passionate about gardening? Do you like to collect succulents?

You got a nice gift. I like the little man pulling the chariot. Also, I see you have a wonderful collection of plants. I wish I had space to grow more plants but my space is very limited.

Sorry you don't have spaces, but succulents 🌵 are ideal in those cases, also vertical growing (hanging plants). Thank you very much dear @erikah. Greetings.😘

If that one gives a red wine flower, that succulent reminds me of my mother. Thank you for stopping by and for your nice comment. Have a nice evening.

What a lovely gift from your daughter! Sad you could not make it, but looks like she brought a little of the festival to you. I love your succulent collection! I killed the last succulents that I had, but perhaps I'll get some more soon and try again. I just got some other house plants from a local arboretum to try, so let's see if I can keep those alive before I purchase anymore.
