Today I start a mini collection of kittens, in different materials and sizes. This publication will be to participate in #focusyourneedlework.
This time I have been excited to materialize a domestic animal as is the cat. This animal is very important for many people who have it as a pet. Many times it is an excellent companion for children, grandparents and people who live alone. In particular my daughter loves them, but at home we do not have them because it is a responsibility that she is not yet willing to fulfill. So she is satisfied with having figures, stuffed animals, or watching the cats of the neighbors that roam around the yard looking for food, these days there is one that is fed daily because I have chosen to keep food for him, to give him when he walks around the yard, and when I open the door, he is waiting and meowing. And on hot afternoons he corners himself in the shade among the plants. This work will be a wall lamp inserted in a disused red suede fabric. For this case the applique will be used on a bag. It can also be used to decorate a cushion or a flannel. First, I made the pattern on paper, then I transferred it to cardboard, leaving a mold. Then I will give a brief explanation.

En esta oportunidad me he emocionado en materializar un animal doméstico como es el gato. Este animal es muy importante para muchas personas que lo tienen como mascota. Muchas veces es un excelente acompañante de niños, abuelos y personas que viven solos. En lo particular mi hija los adora, pero en casa no tenemos porque es una responsabilidad que ella aún no está dispuesta a cumplir. Entonces se conforma con tener figuras, peluches, o ver los gatos de los vecinos que rondan por el patio en busca de alimentos, en estos días existe uno que se alimenta diariamente porque he optado a guardarle comida, para darle cuando anda alrededor del patio, y cuando abro la puerta, está él esperando y maullando. Y en las tardes calurosas se arrincona bajo sombra entre las plantas. Este trabajo será un aplique insertado en una tela gamuzada color rojo en desuso. Para este caso el aplique se usará en un bolso. También se puede decorar un cojín o una franela. En primer lugar, hice el patrón en papel, luego pasarlo a cartulina quedando un molde. Entonces paso a dar una breve explicación.

- 01 rectangle of 46x37 cm. red suede fabric.
- 01 rectangle of 46x37 cm. jeans fabric.
- 01 square of 22x20 cm. black fabric.
- 01 square of 22x20 cm of thermo adhesive interlining.
- 02 strips of jeans 60x6 cm.
- 02 strips of 60x3cm in red suede.
- 02 fabric hearts.
- Needle and thread for sewing.
- 02 black sequins for eyes.
- 02 pearls for eyes.
- Circle of red felt for nose.
- A blue ribbon and pearl.
- Scissors.
- Tape measure.

Process//Proceso:
- I made the design on paper and cardboard of the cat.
- I applied heat to the 22x20 cm squares and the thermo adhesive interlining.
- In the 22x20 square I inserted the mold with pins and cut the figure. There I embroidered the whiskers.
- Hice el diseño en papel y cartulina del gato.
- Apliqué calor a los cuadrados 22x20 cm y la entretela termo adhesiva.
- En el cuadrado de 22x20 inserté el molde con alfileres y corté la figura. Alli bordé los bigotes.
- In the 47x37 cm rectangle of red suede, I inserted with pins the cat applique.
- I proceeded to machine stitch the cat and hearts 💕.
- Then added the details such as eyes, nose, bow.
- En el rectángulo 47x37 cm de gamuza color rojo, inserté con alfileres el aplique de gato.
- Procedí a coser a máquina el gato y los corazones 💕.
- Luego se agrega los detalles como ojos, nariz, lazo.
Assembly//Ensamblado:
- I proceeded to machine sew the 47x37 cm rectangles, the denim-colored cover and red suede on the sides and bottom. I also sewed the corners.
- I made the handles in 60x6 cm strips of jeans and 60x3 cm.
- I sewed the handles on the front and back covers.
- Procedí a coser a máquina los rectángulos 47x37 cm la tapa color jeans y gamuza color rojo los laterales y el fondo. Además, cosí las esquinas.
- Hice las asas en tiras de 60x6 cm de jeans y 60x3 cm.
- Cosí las asas en las tapas delante y atrás.

Very happy for the achievement of making this applique, it is not so easy to do with the sewing machine, it was my first time and I must do it again, to practice. I liked how the cat turned out, similar to the one that arrives in my garden.

As for the #focusyourneedlework contest, I tried to make the approaches and improve on the lighting. I find it positive because you learn another technique of presentation, which is sometimes overlooked. I like the recommendations because I am fond of photography since my childhood, I already wanted to handle a camera. I always take a long time to make the publication by passing photos and then choosing. I've passed the challenge, now I'm waiting for the ranking. Thanks for the initiative.
En cuanto al concurso #focusyourneedlework, traté de hacer los enfoques y mejorar en la iluminación. Me parece positivo porque se aprende otra técnica de presentación, que a veces se obvia. A mí me gustan las recomendaciones porque soy aficionada a la fotografía desde mi niñez, ya deseaba manejar una cámara. Siempre tardo en hacer la publicación pasando fotos y después escogiendo. Ya pasé el reto, ahora espero la clasificación. Gracias por la iniciativa.

I can see the lighting improvements for sure in your photography. I even noticed the various settings you used to place the bag in which looks really nice.
I will say that doing one more thing, which may seem obvious but is easy to forget, will really help with the clarity and sharpness of your photos. Simply cleaning your lens of any blur and smudge before snapping the photo makes a huge difference. You can simply use your breath and then clear it with a soft cloth and you’d be amazed how much clearer they will turn out. Removing the extra glares from a photo will help your project shine even brighter.
