A portion of our rice 🌾 farm that went completely bad.
Hello Hive
There won't be any harvest from this portion of our rice farm, everything has gone completely bad and the reasons for this is not far fetched.
All the conditions needed for growing rice was not met for this portion of our farm. Typically our farms are a bit large and like you know that we also engage in other forms of farming. It is not only rice we grow hence our work time is always limited. The timing needed to attend to each crop promptly is always lacking.
Some things are done early while others are done late.
This is the same reason this portion of the rice went bad.
Here the grains that were able to produce after much struggle still got infected.
Looking at the rice here you can see that only a few rice plants managed to carry some rice grains on it compared to a typical well produced rice.
This portion of the farm is not adequately fertile.
Secondly transplanting was done very late. We started transplanting from the portion of the farm that was fertile enough until we got to this part. We have just wanted to plant this portion just in case something good might come out of it rather than leaving the space not cultivated.
Having taking care of this spot with enough rain and all the rice wasn't able to produce well.
I believe that this is a typical soil fertility problem.
This exact spot was also very quick to dry off after the rains stopped meaning that the ground here didn't absorb enough moisture content.
Empty rice hulles
At least now we know what the problem is and we may not farm this portion next year but better still lookout for solution to the soil fertility issues since there are not many farming land available around this location and we have to maximize what we have before us.
Lesson is well learned as timing and land availability is crucial. Sorry about this
Thank you
Sorry for the lost from the bad rice portion of yours. The one you harvested can cover the lost.
So sorry about the bad portion of the rice, hopefully, next year will be better as you have learnt some important lessons from this one
Exactly dear, thanks alot
