What would you do if your only available option was...to blog on Steem? Scary eh? Long live Hive!

There's this "golden rule" when it comes to investments. You can see it everywhere...

Especially as a banner on various types of posts whose authors are trying to predict / study, in which direction the markets will move tomorrow...or next week...or next year.

They are trying to find patterns that indicate that this or that will happen next. The truth is nobody knows what's going to happen next. And I mean literally nobody...God maybe...

And those who claim that they know...trust me, they know shit.

But the rule is always there...

Never invest more than you can afford to lose.

Sounds cliche, right? We must have heard it like a million times. And have also read it a million times more. Yet, how many of us live by that rule?

You think it only applies to investments that have to do with money, eh? Either digital or FIAT.

WRONG WRONG WRONG!

How much does the time you've spent engaging with others, reading posts, curating content really worth?

It applies to everything. Literally everything and it also applies to Steem. Remember, without Steem, Ned's incompetence...and of course Justin's vanity we wouldn't be here now.

Now take a deep breath and let me tell you a little story.

Not even in my wildest dreams I could think of the possibility that there would be a day where I would earn digital currencies that is translated to real money, just by blogging and having fun with people I've virtually met from all over the world. Period.

Yet through Steem and thank God nowadays Hive, we still have that privilege.

But throughout the process I made a serious mistake. Slipped from the "golden rule".

As a result I went all in on Steem, not on a financial level but definitely n every other lever there is. Countless hours spent on Steem. You wouldn't imagine...

I've read tons of posts, I've dropped thousands of comments, although due to lack of time I don't comment as much as I used to lately.

I also invested real money and bought STEEM. A lot of times...

Didn't spend millions of dollars because at least when it comes to money I try to follow that "golden rule", but I did buy a fair chunk of Steem when I thought that the time was right.

Steem was something unique for me. Not only because of everything that I mentioned above but also because it was my gateway to crypto in general. I was educated on Steem and that is a fact.

Just to give an idea, my first STEEM purchase was when Steem was sitting at $1.6. I decided to arm my hand for the first time ever when it comes to digital investments, spent 1000 EUROs and bought....almost 650 STEEM...Can you even imagine that?

Is there someone reading these lines that can relate to what I am describing...?

My second STEEM purchase was at $1.4....

And again at $1.2...at $0.80...all the way down to $0.14...

Things were playing out really well...my account was growing every single day, but the most important thing is that I was still excited...2 years in and it felt like day 1. No shit.

And then one morning...

"Hi, I am Justin Sun and I am here to fuck ya all to ruin everything you've been building for the past 4 years."

"How are you Steem community?"

Long story short, we are now on Hive where there's no Justin around, no Ned, no ninja mined stake...none censorship and from where I stand, e have a good chance to build something that we'll be proud of.

And while I never thought I would initiate a full power down procedure on Steem, at least any time soon, here I am...killing my Steem stake week after week for 15 cents...

I don't like to lose. Especially money, I guess I am not the only one right?

From a financial point of view, you can call it a bad investment...a really bad one. I mean who buys at $1.6 just to sell at $0.15?

Me I guess, or am I not the only one?

My only concern right now is if Justin will keep propping the price till our power-downs are complete...

Oh...and this...was that shit even there yesterday? Sheeesh...

I saw that TRX chart too! Oh my god! Hahaha.
I bet Justin will be migrating Steemit to Tron and do a token swap. He just waits until most of us have powered down most of our Steem.

I do hope Justin keeps pumping the STEEM price until my powerdown completes. I too bought at $1.60 first. Thankfully I sold 95% of mine at higher prices last Summer. But we have gotten double what we put in in-terms of coins, so if we see HIVE climb to $1.60 before we sell we'll be in good shape I guess.

But like you I also invested a lot of time and only the relationships built carry forward with me. That's something, except that so many of my friends on here have long since left either chain.

The only thing I am grateful for is those relationships built there. At least most of them are on Hive too

Thankfully I sold 95% of mine at higher prices last Summer.

Good for you sweetie. I wish I knew back then...
