Cambodian Dessert - Taro Coconut with Sago🥥
As I sit here in the classroom, I can feel the cool air lightly touch on my skin. The temperature from air conditioner I mean. I really want some fresh air and listen to the wind sounds as well, sometimes I go down stairs sitting on the bench. But what's next?I'm spending a lot more time in here (classroom) these days than I used to. I'm taking extra classes now, and today was especially crazy because I had a few extra exercises to complete. In addition, we have a major test coming up next month. Because the semester is over, it is the only exam that truly assesses our ability as students. These assessments are important since they determine our preparation for the national exams.
As it was already 5:00 p.m., I started copying some math exercises from a friend who had just finished them on the whiteboard. Afterwards, I headed home.
On my way, I decided to stop along the quiet street in Svay Romlum village to take some photos of the night scene. The dark of the street was unpleasant, but at the back of my mind, I am familiar but also feel a little scared.
When I finally got home, I was surprised by a large bowl of my mother's homemade taro dessert. She had been working on it the entire afternoon while I was at school. Taro pieces were cooked in a wonderful coconut milk broth in the traditional dish.
I quickly went into the dessert, savoring every piece. We put extra coconut milk on top to increase the flavor and smells. The creamy and aromatic coconut taste matched the sweetness of the taro wonderfully. Totally was simply delicious, and I enjoyed every spoon.
The coconut milk she bought was the fresh one from local market which means it can't be eaten the next day unless we put it in the fridge. But there's a lot of it! Do you think we won't be able to finish all that coconut milk with our taro dessert?
