Words Associated With "Financially Independent"

Everyone wants to gain that height in financial freedom where money isn't a problem and one gets to live life comfortably or as he or she sees fit. Being free financially is a part of my dreams and I believe achieving that would open doors to more achievements that I can't get easily now.

Sometimes I do wonder if one can ever be financially free or is it just the person deciding to say that freedom is here even if someone else would say it isn't enough. How much is enough to say one is financially free? Well, I think I've shared an article on that already and it isn't my focus for this article.

I came across a question that asked... What ten words do you associate with "Financially Independent"?

That got me thinking a bit and I got to think up only five words to associate them with, you can share more if you have any to complete the ten.

Why would one ask about the words I associate with financially independent? I also thought about this and what I could come up with is that, it gives you a clearer picture of what you wish to attain to define that you're financially independent. The words you associate with it are more like traits of a financially independent person.

The five words I came up with are what I see in being financially independent and I believe one who portray these words as a lifestyle are financially independent. We all want to be free financially, what are the exact words you'd associate with your financial dreams? Here are my five.

Stable

It's no news how having no money to sort a particular issue can cause one to be anxious or worried. It's hard to stay calm or stable when there is a money problem and no way of getting it sorted out. A financially independent person would have no such worry and so they are more stable, their confidence in providing a solution to their money problems and even for the future emergencies grows stronger.

They are stable to the extent that they decide how to live their lives and not their financial status deciding if for them like the low status would have their decisions affected by their status. It is unlikely for financially independent people.

Reliable

Someone once made a joke to me and said that, People don't listen to poor man's advice but they pay very close attention to a rich man's nonsense words 😂 While that was hilarious, I had another thought to it and realized how reliable financially independent people could be if they let themselves to be one. Having no money problem can only mean that they could take up more responsibilities and still be okay.

Being able to give advice, guides and helping others as a financially independent person is why I say they are reliable. But of course, this has a lot more to do with the individual and what he thinks.

Able to pay

Obviously, when it's about money, it is about spending and for the wise ones, saving or investing. These people are able to do all that without batting an eye about losses or possible inflations. I would like to think that anyone who is financially independent has a source of income that is very stable and growing, they get to adjust to any possible inflations, losses or too risky decisions.

Paying their bills, buying what they need at any point in time, even paying for others... These people are able and capable of paying and sorting things out if it's about money.

Out of the red

One won't be financially independent if there are outstanding debts to be paid. Debts are like chains, taking away the freedom one should have with his or her money and so, anyone would be out of the red when there are no debts to be paid. As adviced by many, it's best to sort out your debts before you plan towards becoming financially free.

Being out of the red is having no worries about debts or not being able to make a money decisions. Being out of the red is something anyone can achieve even with less but it is strategy that differs.

Free

My most favourite word to associate them with being financially independent... Free. How cool it is to decide for yourself, travel the world, pay your bills without relying on anyone, work when you want to and lazy around when you want to. All that are what freedom means to me and being financially independent provides a master ticket to such a life.

There are more words associated to being financially independent, I'd love to learn more from you in the comment section.

You nailed it!
One more word I would add is 'security'.
Security in the sense that nothing much moves you when you know that anything that might come up could be sorted out with money most of the time.
So, financial freedom is not without this calm sense of security.
Once again, I love your insight

Don't we all want to be associated with all five words, I definitely want to feel free, reliable and the rest, and yes, security is part of it.

Good post Merit 👍

Your points are valid. There's this freedom and sense of security that comes with being financially stable, and most aspects of one's life tend work out when you fix your finances.

Very informative, thank you for sharing.

Financial Freedom is a thing many one of us want to achieve and we use the term many cases. But Sometimes I feel doubt that many people still don't know what the financial freedom actually.
You have discussed about it very well and I think many people will understand it now.

Well said Merit, I always tell myself that until I'm able to sort out debts, take care of my family issues, and also help others, without thinking of how I would get that money back, till then, I'm not financially independent.

LoL!! How would people listen to you when you are poor? Even if what you are trying to pass across is the right thing they wouldn't like to pay attention, because they believe if it's right, it should have changed your life😂

There are many privileges that comes with having money. Being financially stable is great, I agree with your choice of words for financial stability, they are just perfect.

These are facts. There is this feeling one gets knowing that you can at least take care of things to some extent and not fall into debt.

As humans our needs are insatiable so there is no price to how much is enough for most of us.

But being financially independent is one thing I wish for myself and people around me.

Thank you for sharing.
