Adopting Web3 & It's Opportunities - The Setbacks

I think I can give count of the number of times I've had to read articles about the reasons people are yet to adopt the new web after Web 2 and that is because this topic isn't being raised and tackled as much as it should, I think it is one of the reasons people are yet to adopt Web3. The reasons should be looked into to ease the mass adoption of Web 3.

Web 3 after many years in Web 2 and asking people to adopt Web 3 for themselves... It's like asking a crawling child to start walking immediately.

For that fact, there should be steps taken seriously in bringing people to accept and adopt the new web. It wouldn't be without a few setbacks/reasons they would fail to adopt Web 3. I thought about four reasons which I know from personal cases with people that could possibly be behind why some are yet to embrace the opportunities of Web 3.

Unawareness of the opportunities

First things first, Web 3 has come to stay and a few of us has experienced or at least learn about the opportunities that are in Web 3 but I feel we're failing to create enough awareness for others to see what we have found and be part of it.

Some people are looking for these opportunities but unaware of where to find them, and some are deceived making it hard for them to believe when the original comes along.

Too complex to understand

Like I had used a crawling baby as an illustration, the new Web can pose as too difficult to comprehend as many are used to the Web 2 ways of doing things and earning money. I can still remember how complex the whole thing looked when I made my first contact with a crypto coin until I was guided.

We would need more Web 3 teachers and guides to get people to understand what they are missing out on. More simpler explanations and illustrations on the web 2 platforms would also go a long way.

The Web 2 mentality

I laughed a little when I thought of this as a reason. I think it is also due to the ignorance of what Web 3 holds for anyone who would adopt it. People are stuck in Web 2 and they feel satisfied with the little it offers. Some are even aware of Web 3 but can't seem to come out of the Web 2 shackles. Awareness may have been solved for some but easy explanation is yet to be given to them.

We still have a large population using Web 2 platforms so comfortably, while some earn little, others don't at all. They need to be shaken out of that mentality with more Web 3 awareness and opportunities explanations.

Insecurities and losses

I once asked my aunt to join me in buying a token some time ago and what she told me has remained in my head since then... I do buying and selling, not long term sales and profit... She actually said that in pidgin, and it made sound really funny as it was obvious to those who were aware of Web 3 that she has heard more about the downside of Web 3 than the good sides.

She would always wonder why people would want to keep their money somewhere when it's possible that it would reduce to nothing lol. While that is true, there are also possibilities of no losses but we would need to tell people how all these works. Insecurities and losses are in other Webs and I think Web 3 is more secure if handled properly.

There are other reasons people are yet to adopt the new Web and that includes fraud too, many have been scammed a lot of times that they'd rather stick to what they know (Web 2).

Some people are simply unaware, others know about it but lazy, majority perhaps are skeptics hehe. We hope that as time passes on, more people will find their way into Web 3.

Laziness, how did I not add that? 😂
Some people are very much aware like my family members but don't just want to make a small sacrifice to learn into it... They are lazy, yeah 🤣

People feel insecurities when something is New to them. Adopting web 3.0 is difficult for those who are addicted in web 2.0 and it's not easy for them to leave web 3.0.
But I think web 3.0 will be unavoidable in the future.

Indeed, Web 3 has come to stay so they will get into it at some point in time.
Thanks Intishar 🙂

These are so on point, especially the insecurity area, people are fear fear, they will rather not risk and loss then stay same way. If only they knew opportunities that lies ahead.

I think there are a lot of reasons why people aren't adopting Web3. Mostly, it's because they are entrenched and committed to the powers that control Web2. Facebook, for instance, is still the largest social media platform, and many people will stay there simply because of that fact until it becomes evident that Facebook is in decline and unable to return from the fall. That could be years.

If you know people who are not in Web3 and are looking for simple explanations and reasons why to join, introduce them to this book. It is easy to read and easy to understand while explaining the benefits to ordinary creators who need to know.

Change is the most difficult adjustment there is especially when you've become so comfortable where you are. In time with a lot of education and exposure, Web3 will be able to lead. Insightful thoughts you've shared.🙂
