This week’s battle mage secrets focuses on the Super Sneak Ruleset.

The Super Sneak ruleset grants all melee monsters the Sneak ability. The naïve approach would be to fill your lineup with melee monsters and capitalize on melee monsters being able to attack from the backline. However, your opponent also gets the same advantage. One approach which seems counterintuitive is to assemble your lineup in reverse for this ruleset. You should prioritize which monster will occupy the backline first. Monsters will abilities like Thorns, Retaliate, Shield, Dodge, Snipe, and high-speed stats are key for this ruleset to reflect, reduce, evade, or counter the Sneak damage received. Also, do not be naïve and ignore range and magic monsters in this ruleset – I have in the past fallen into this trap by expecting my melee monsters to rip through the opposition to then encounter an opposition with magic monsters applying all sorts of debuffs on my lineup and my melee monsters being pounded into submission.

The combination of the rulesets, Super Sneak and Up Close & Personal, in this battle, makes lineup composition simple – focus on melee damage and speed. Also, as it is a low-mana cap I had the last slots taken up by Cursed Slimeball and Furious Chicken, which I threw in to complete the lineup. My opposition played a perfect backline tank in Harklaw, and the battle went on for twenty-four rounds until fatigue managed to secure a victory for me. On one hand, I got lucky that I managed to outlast the opposition but on the other hand, the buff/debuff melee monsters deployed in the backline provided that extra edge to secure the victory in the end.

Do You Like the Super Sneak Ruleset? Why or Why Not?

The Super Sneak ruleset is the synergy between balancing the last position and fortifying the front line of your team. Do you prioritize the front line and keep your main tank in the first position, or do you shift them to the last slot? This type of decision is what keeps things interesting in splinterlands. Some may think no need to over-complicate things – just choose melee monsters and focus on high speed and high melee damage. However, that would be naïve (like me sometimes) as you will miss playing range and magic monsters that may prove critical in applying buff/debuffs that could prove critical in securing victory in battle.
