The unlikely traveler

avatar

I was coming home from work the other day and wanted to get inside my house quickly.

But when I was walking by the tree in front of my home, something stopped me in my tracks.

It was a small yellow snail moving slowly along the rough bark.

I stopped moving to investigate what I saw because it shocked me so much.

Of course, snails feel much better on the ground, where they can eat leaves and move around easily in the wet dirt.

But this little wanderer looked like he or she was about to take over the tree.

I kneeled down to get a better look.

The snail was very beautiful because its body was bright yellow, and its eyes were black and curious.

I set my camera to focus on the snail instead of its shell, so I could get a picture of the determined look in its eyes.

There isn't enough light, and the background is hazy.

I think it captures the spirit of that short time in my yard, though.

This is a lesson that sometimes all you need to do to enjoy the beauty of nature in your own front yard is slow down and take a better look.

Beautiful shot! The yellow shell looks cool, and the texture of its skin as well.
