DECORATIONS

These beautiful Yule Logs were created by my daughter. The logs she uses all came from a giant ancient fallen oak tree in the forest near my backyard.

She cuts the logs to size, decorates them and sells them in her Etsy store, ExcaliburofYuletide

I haven't seen the one that she has created for me this year, but I am looking forward to having it DECORATE the center of my dining room table during the month of December. I love that she reuses my same log and decorates it with fresh greenery and candles.

Love the Yule Logs. Although I have certainly seen photos through the years, I have never actually seen any in real life where someone has made one with a real log.

Of course since it looked like Christmas decor, I had to stop over. :)

Beautiful yule logs! I had no idea this was a thing. Such fun.

Come Christmas, I'm usually looking for this kind of yule log 😊

This was the delicious Yule Log that Alli made last year for our Christmas celebration! I do love the edible kinds! 😂

We had big plans to make a yule log last year but then the big Christmas eve storm hit and we were without power and living with a neighbor for several days 🙁 We are going to give it another try this year.

What are you doing for T-Day tomorrow? I've been chuckling over the fact that we have a personal relationship with our dinner. We even have his baby picture

Did family or friends raise your turkey? My family has raised cattle so I have some stories lol the best is probably my nephew when he was 5 or so excitedly taking me out to see the two cows they were raising. And then telling me with a straight face and no understanding that their names were Steak and Hamburger 😂

The turkey was raised by a local farmer that I have been buying our Thanksgiving turkey from for over 30 years. About 15 years ago his daughter moved into the neighborhood where my daughter lives and they have become good friends. So yes friends raised the turkey. He is a big one. 24 lb!

Why are there only 3 candles, what is the tradition behind it? There are 4 candles for Advent decorations. 🤔

Yule is an ancient Psgan celebration of the winter Solstice. The candles light the darkness and the burning of the log celebrate the turning of the year and the movement towards the sun.

That's great! Since it's just me in the house anymore I just don't decorate as much anymore! Those are all beautiful, she does a great job creating those!
