These Coatis are visitors to the patio around the pool at the resort in Mexico my son and his wife are staying at. They are members of the raccoon family and can be quite naughty when they are looking for opportunities to steal some food.

They are often seen along the trail to the beach.

Information provided by the resort

At the end of the video a young Coati has just run across the trail to catch up with his mom

Absolutely not😅😆, but in the movies they always wake up the owners at night by sneaking into their houses haha, even in the cartoons they represent them with a mask impersonating a thief 😄

I really enjoyed seeing these animals. We do not have them in my part of North America.

Ohh! I haven't actually seen them also but I know lovely creatures like this exist. It's just where we live and see them

These photos are gorgeous. I admit that when I saw the first photo, the one where you can't see the face, I thought you had shared a photo of a dinosaur

Lmao, that information provided is quite interesting. I must say that I am ready to place my food unprotected there haha.

They are cute.

I suspect that many guests at the resort have put good out for them, and that's why there are many of them around

Are they harmful?

Not harmful, only naughty. They can destroy things while trying to get food.

It's such a funny animal; I've seen a couple of them in Costa Rica, but fortunately they didn't stole anything! 😁

They are basically raccoons! I've dealt with them back in the day when I was in central America!

I have plenty of raccoons here in my backyard! Last summer they ripped up the cover on the barbecue grill trying to get to the grease in the drip tray. They wreak havoc with my bird feeders. I have never been around these fellows though!

They can be a problem. They love to find a way into any trash they can and wreak havoc on your yard at night!

Very cute. A long nosed bandit 😂 "thier big nose allows them to smell underground" but I'm sure they prefer leftovers from humans above ground and easy pickings

They look like they could do plenty of mischief! Aren't those tails amazing? I read that they are used for balance when climbing trees to eat fruit. Be glad they don't live in your garden!

Beautifully filmed. These raccoons look different than the ones here. I remember how they used to visit our house when I was in Abbottabad. They were three, two kids and their mom, black with a white stripe on their chests and tail. They are naughty and great stealers.

Thanks! Those tails are certainly different from the raccoons that live here in my forest!

Not horrible! There is plenty of room in our world for wildlife!

Oh how lovely! We don't have animals like that here, so it looks kind of exotic to me.
