It is a Sublime and Beautiful Sunday

Sundays are a good day to show the beauty of our world. This week I chose to share photos of these gorgeous lilies that are blooming right now. All the photos were taken in town, because out here in the woods lilies are a favorite food of the local deer herd and they usually get eaten off before they have an opportunity to bloom.

The genus Lilium has more than a 100 species, 2000 varieties and a considerable amount of hybrids which can be classified into nine ‘divisions’. source

I won't even begin to guess what kind of lilies these are, but will content myself with enjoying their beauty and, in many cases, their lovely smell.

Hope you enjoyed all these lovely lilies as much as I did. I do appreciate the gardeners who choose to grow them and make our world a prettier place to be!

Gardening has become an expensive hobby. I wonder if we will begin to notice a difference in what people are growing in their gardens. I am growing more vegetables and fewer flowers in my pots on the deck this summer.

Next month I start the vegetables and herbs being our ideal month for sowing the seeds, most definitely more are turning to food than flowers that are attractive.

Old friendly neighbourhood we all shared plants to avoid the cost, now most have passed on, new folk move in without the same mindset.

Beautiful and diverse selection of lilies 🙂. I too like lilies. I tried to start some last year but they didn't make it. I have a new spot in mind... just need some lilies 🤦‍♂️ I'm thinking of asking some neighbors with big lily beds if I can just have a shovel or two.

Ditch Lillys are quite assertive and try to take over the world once they are established. I'm pretty sure your neighbors won't have any trouble with you digging out a shovel or two! They are hardy and maintenance free!

Wow you are right ahead of me with a day in the garden on tap!

I try and keep #sublimesunday posts for the end of week adventure it always is with lack of formal schedule and pile of procrastination to be dealt with.

Well maybe a hint of garden as that is on the loose agenda after visiting friends blogs and curating ovwr coffee!

A beautiful blossom, for sure! I have been a Garden catalog Junkie for most of my life and the catalogs have helped me make it through many cold winter months dreaming of springtime. So it's particularly fun in the summer to see the actual plants growing in people's Gardens.

I think white Easter lilies are probably the first thing that most people think of when someone says Lily.
One of my favorite lilies grows on the prairie and is native to Wisconsin and can grow up to 8 ft tall and have 50 blooms per stalk. It is brilliant orange and is called a Turks Cap Lily.

The bridal bouquet I wore at my wedding had beautiful white lilies. I love them in all the colors you show us in your photographs. 😍
