Bees and flowers

Emily Dickenson 1830 –1886
Of the 1800 poems that she wrote, around 100 poems are about bees.

She was born and died in a yellow brick house in Amherst, Massachusetts that is now a museum to her life. I have been fascinated with the work that they have done to recreate and restore her garden.

She spent much of her life writing, gardening and observing nature.

These photos, with bees on flowers, caused me to pull my poetry books from my library shelves and read though Dickenson 's poems again, looking for some of my favorites that are about bees

To make a prairie it takes a clover and one bee,
One clover, and a bee.

I have not visited, except by
reading about the Museum and Gardens, and watching TV documentaries and movies about her life. I think she is my favorite poet. Massachusetts is over a thousand miles away from Wisconsin.

I have so many birds around that I see very few insects here in my garden! I often wonder if I have too many bird feeders😁

I have always noticed that Bees always love to stay beside flowers and I always wonder why...

Thanks. Bees gather pollen from the flowers to feed their young, and collect nectar to make honey. They are very busy bees!

By seeing such natural things and the way a person is seeing that all these flowers are very beautiful, a person gets a lot of happiness and peace by visiting such places.
