Splinterlands - Facing against Minotaur Warrior? (Weekly Post)

One of my first ever cards bought in Splinterlands is the Minotaur Warrior. A common alpha was not used much, but it was apart of the collection since it is an alpha card. My limited use of the card is due to its lack of attack stats for a 5 mana monster. Its abilities were not much to talk about either with reach up to level 5 before getting pierce at level 6. My Minotaur is only up to level 5.

Battle Facing Against the Minotaur Warrior

In the following battle I will show why I do not use the Minotaur so much. Especially when it is level 5 and under.

The battle was limited to 20 mana and had Fog of War and Broken Arrow rule sets. The choice of splinters was limited to three in water, death and earth.

Formations

I went with earth splinter started off with Furious Chicken and then follow up with my real tanker in Flesh Golem. Chicken is really used as a sacrifice. Then I had Ooze, Brownie, Wooden Nymph and end with Mushroom Seer. The strategy was to fill out all the positions as best I could with the a decent tanker in Flesh Golem and closing the formation with decent attacker in Mushroom Seer.

My opponent in turn had almost the same thought process and started off with Chicken follow up by Flesh Golem, Minotaur Warrior, Goblin Sorcerer, and finish off with Magi of the Forest. The similarities to my formation was uncanny. With the same sacrifice and tanker while closing out the formation with two magic monsters. I do say my choice of magic monsters appear to be better as Mushroom Seer reduces my opponent's magic attack and my Wooden Nymph helps keep the formation alive with team heal.

Round 1

At the end of the round both Chickens were knocked out. The remainder of the formation still pretty intact.

Round 2

End of the second round my Flesh Golem was weaker than my opponent. This made it appear my opponent having the upper hand.

Round 3

The attacks between the two formations continue its exchanges and formation remain the same. It would only be until near end of round 4 did I gain the upper hand by knocking out my opponent's Flesh Golem first.

Round 4

My opponent without their Flesh Golem now appear very vulnerable.

Round 5 and 6

With now a face off with Minotaur Warrior it would not take too long to have it dispatched.

My combo of Mushroom, Wooden Nymph, and Flesh Golem attacking on their main monsters was enough to take out Minotaur.

Round 7

The healing ability of Wooden Nymph protected my Flesh Golem from knock out while the three monsters I had attacking at the same turn in Flesh Golem, Wooden Nymph, and Mushroom Seer was enough to take down the remaining formation of my opponent.

Conclusions

Magic attack helped with the combo of healing in Wooden Nymph. In fact I believe if it were not for Wooden Nymph I would not have won the match. Both sides monsters were at evenly match levels and summoner at level 6. The real advantage came down to who had Flesh Golem survive the longest.

This battle is proof while a level 5 and under Minotaur, which is currently what I have at level 4/5, could not be as useful as it could in battles. It just was not enough fire power to fend off an opponent and it did not have an ability to make itself or the team it is on in the same way Wooden Nymph could.
