My Easy Ways of Overcoming Writer's block and Burnout

I have been stuck on several occasions while trying to write articles and stories. I guess everyone goes through this, either as a student or a content writer. Just like our bodies get tired, our brain cells do too.

Personally, when I'm stuck with no idea on what to write, I don't stress myself too much; I give my brain some rest. This has happened on so many different occasions. Sometimes, the ideas would be flowing, but finding the right words to describe everything won't be easy. That feeling of tiredness and not being inspired to write just strikes.

Let's simply say writer’s block is when one seems not to have the right words to express his or her ideas. The only reason that can cause this is when we are burned out as a result of stress. Stress comes in different ways. When we say mental stress, we are referring to our brain being exhausted.

When we find ourselves in this state, writing anything can be very difficult. Just like our bodies get tired and we feel like we need a rest without anyone telling us to do so, the same with our brains when they get tired. The only way we know we are experiencing writer's block is when we struggle to pen down our ideas or lack words to express our thoughts the perfect way it would be understood by others.

Writer's block and burnout look almost like the same thing but with slight differences. While burnout is a constant feeling of tiredness or finding it difficult to concentrate, writer's block is just not finding the right words to make out down our ideas, as a result of our brain being exhausted.

The good thing is that we can actually cope with these two things by employing the same strategies. Sometimes, it can be difficult to differentiate which is which due to we can be tired and our brain is also tired.

Personally, once I experience these, what I do is give myself a break. The last thing I can do is force myself into doing what I'm struggling with, especially in writing. Once I feel extremely tired or stuck, all I do is appreciate myself for the other days I have been writing and give my brain full rest. This can last up to a day but not days and the aftermath is nothing but zeal to write.

Also, another way I come over it is by taking it easy on myself. Sometimes when I'm doing story writing, I can designate two days to three days to write a particular story instead of being hard on myself and contributing to more burnout.

Another thing I don't joke with is adequate sleep. Sleeping is what I don't joke with at all, and that helps me so much in my writing. Once I feel stuck, I prefer resting for 2 hours or less. I do notice much difference from how my brain was before and after I had slept. I get more inspired to write after I have rested my brain for some time. My coping mechanisms are simple: giving myself a break, taking things bit by bit, doing something outside the box that I find pleasure, for me, that's simply visiting my TikTok, and lastingly giving myself quality sleep.
