Be careful with your CV, it landed my friend into serious problem

Hey hey hey, ahh, what a mess!!!!

See, whenever you're filling your CV (curriculum vitae) please be careful to avoid implicating yourself.

Also, if you're a Nigerian, please don't search, rent or hunt for house or apartment during raining season. Why? hmm, if I tell you this story ehh, you'll not have the mouth to ask me "why?" again.

There is this my friend whose name is Precious. We have been living together for good 3 years now and she's from rivers state.

You should know how people from that side do behave naa. Hehehe, they're water friendly and swimming is their twin.

Now, as soon as she came to Aba, she prepared her CV and started hunting for work. While preparing the CV, she added swimming as her hobby to which I objected since there is no where she can prove her swimming skills because there is no river or sea here to avoid implicating herself.

All my advice to her fell inside deaf ears because to her, she thinks she's an expert in swimming. Anyway, time will tell.

Months later, she got a job and we celebrated together. But, few months later too, our landlord gave us quick notice (he commanded us to vacate from his house) because he wants to renovate it.

Ok, it was mid November when we started hunting for house. By second week runs f December, we got one and we packed in not knowing that the land is not levelled.

November here falls in dry season and that deceived us. Honestly, we really enjoyed our new house throughout dry season.

One day, something happened though, I laughed out my ass yet, it greatly taught me a lesson I can't forget in a hurry.

As soon as the first rain dropped around February, our eyes became so wide as we couldn't believe that we are living inside flood and swamp.

Anyway, one day, a tragedy struck my Friend. Hahahaha. it's not funny at all but, don't ask me to stop laughing.

One faithful day, it rained throughout the night and even till morning. Sincerely speaking, there was no way to move out from our room because of how flooded the compound was.

At that, my friend decided to inform her boss of the latest but the reply she got amazed her. Let's see the conversation between her and her boss...

Their conversation

Friend: Ma good morning

Boss: Morning. precious have you reach office?

Friend: Emm, no ma.

Boss: Why?

Friend: Ma, our compound is highly flooded. There is no way to go out. infact, Ma, as am talking to you now, we are praying for water not to enter our room.

Boss: Precious, in your CV, you added swimming among your hobbies isn't it? So you can't tell me that water is withholding you from reaching the office. Swim as fast as you could to make sure you'll be in the office before the arrival of my client by 9:30am. Hurry up.

At this point, my friend opened her mouth in amazement and the only help I could render was a basket full of laughter. I laughed her until she too started laughing at herself.

Conclusion and lesson

Please, if you relocated to a new environment, ask questions and also listen to advice from it's residents. I told my friend not to add swimming among her hobbies and she refused, now, who will she blame? herself isn't it?

Secondly, let's not change environment during raining season unless you're familiar with the new environment before packing in.

Am telling you this because I don't want you to pass through what I encountered years ago.
