About the Quote

No one likes to lose, but losing is a part of life. Even a team which sets the new record for victories in a long season has a small number of losses (except in the National Football League, where only 16 or 17 games are played in a regular season). If it's handled properly, losing is used as an opportunity to build a sustainable record of winning.

It's one thing to lose. It's another thing to lose in a disgraceful fashion: unsportsmanlike conduct; cheating; laziness; stupidity; ignorance; lack of concern; lack of self-control; lack of will; ...

If a team does everything properly and still loses, that's OK; one team has to lose. If a team loses because it simply ran out of time, that's understandable because that happens to all teams. If a team loses, it should always be because it got beat by a better team; it should never be because the team beat itself.
