Pepper snail recipe

I've recently been expanding my knowledge of making different dishes, so I decided to try out the pepper snail to see if I could do it!

Pepper snail is a popular Nigerian dish made with snails cooked in a spicy pepper sauce. It's usually a very spicy dish 🥵🌶️. The above image is the result of the dish.
Let me show you how I did it...keep reading...

Ingredients

  • 0.5 kg of Fresh snails
  • 1 Medium size Onions
  • 1 tablespoon of Vegetable oil
  • 2 Seasoning cubes
  • Salt to taste
  • Water
  • 1 teaspoon Curry powder
  • Lime juice
  • 1 medium size cucumber
  • 1 Scotch bonnet pepper
  • 15 tiny fresh peppers
  • Dry ground pepper

Preparation

  • First thing I did was to clean and prep the snails by the shells and other unwanted parts. I washed the snail thoroughly and set it aside

  • Next I sprinkled the dry ground pepper on it

  • Next I chopped the onions, blended the fresh pepper and cut the scotch bonnet pepper

  • I put the pot to heat, added the vegetable oil and the chopped onions and sauté until translucent

  • Next I added the blended pepper and the scotch bonnet pepper and stir very well until the peppers are softened

  • I season the mixture with the seasoning cubes, salt and the curry powder

  • Next I added water that'll be enough to cover and soften the snails and then added the snails to it and still properly.

  • After that I covered the pot to allow the snails to coat with the pepper sauce. It took about 3-5 minutes for it to be done. I then added the lime juice to it!

  • Next I garnished it with pepper, cucumber and onions and it looked very nice, and it was also very delicious

My mom and stepfather enjoyed the dish so much and so did I. In fact I'm definitely making it again sometime again.

You can choose to make it less spicy if you don't like much pepper, it's also good.

It is served as an appetizer or side dish.

Thank you for staying till this point, I hope you got something from this post, see you next time 🤗

This would make a great sauce when used with rice or yam. I think I am going try this out.
Well done, ma!

I love snails so much but it turns out that it is so expensive here and can't afford it. Hehehe 😀
I ate snail a lot when I was in secondary school and eat it occasionally especially when I go home and eat it which isn't every time. I want to taste it again and maybe would just close eyes and get it. Lol
