Inflation on mangoes?

This year , the inflation affected everything, including the fruits and vegetables sold on the street!
I waited for mango season to come, and it finally came but I was really surprised when I was told the price of it where I went to buy!

It was really expensive. In fact I was shocked at the price. "How can you sell 4 Mangoes for N1000?", I asked the fruit seller. Her response was that the inflation affected everything. But Wondered how inflation would affect a common fruit planted on the tree 🤔🤦.

In the end, I didn't buy the mango at that price, in fact I just couldn't.
When I told my mom the experience she told me to wait that the price will soon go down, these are just the initials!
And she was right, because after a week they started selling it four pieces for N500. This too was expensive because last time we bought More than that for N200, it used to be 5 pieces!

I thought that the secret again was to wait for the price to reduce, so I was waiting. But it took so many weeks and the price remained constant. I was already losing my patience because I cannot miss eating mangoes in it's season!

So I decided I'm going to buy them at the current price. When I got there, I asked the seller if she could add one more to the four mangoes she was selling for N500, and well she agreed so I was alw to buy fibe pieces of mangoes!

It was still costly for me because I remember last year I could buy up to 12-13 pieces of mangoes just with that same amount!

But I knew I had to stay calm, relax and enjoy my fruit!
I felt like not giving anyone and enjoying the fruit alone because it's even small for me, but man that's impossible when you have a large family 😂.

"Oh is this mango, can I have one?" That's what they would all say when they see me with the fruits! And my heart is too soft to deny them of it, this is part of my weak point.

But luckily for me, only my mom and little sis were home. I gave one to my mom and one to my sister. She loves mangoes so much maybe even more than she loves me 😂🙃

I was left with 3 pieces and I had to finish it fast before the other siblings comes back.

I have no interest in using Mangoes for any recipe, I just want to eat them as it comes, but maybe I can try using it to make something one day, I think after I'm satisfied with eating lol!

I'm happy I was able to buy this fruit despite the inflated price.
I still wonder why inflation would affect fruits that grows on it's own in it's seasons!
The stuffs I thought would never be affected by inflation because they are very easy to get were all affected.
You can't buy what you want and you can't be satisfied by what you bought because of high price 🤦. These thoughts are distressing for me o!

Mangoes are among the fruits I love most, I bet if the inflation didn't affect it,I would have gone crazy about it lol!

Thank you for reading my thoughts, see you next time 🤗💜

I get the same here in Canada, many non-native fruits are imported are marked up high for sale by the big grocer chains but the price does go down after some days, still high but only 25% to 30% less with a few blemishes. Everything is getting it by real inflation alright.
