Another One of Those Days When I am So Glad I work at Home

Good Morning! Hope you're having a great start to your Saturday! Went out briefly this morning before 7 a.m. It was still dark and the wind was pretty strong at around 20 mph. No snow yet at that point but it was precipitating. We just had to pick up a couple of things quickly and we were back home in about 20 minutes. Now it is snowing!

I really feel very lucky that I get to have a home business that isn't putting us into huge debt. I am working on a budget that my husband is providing me with from his retirement income. We are pretty frugal anyway. I remember when Jon Olson wrote his Pizza Plan books. What he wrote made so much sense. Getting the most essential tools to run your online business and then getting the rest a piece at a time as you can afford it. The budget he proposed was pretty reasonable for anyone to start an online business.

When I got fired from my corporate job and I was looking for a business to start we were living in our house. The real estate market was still pretty strong back in 2005 to 2006 and the banks were giving away money like it was free. I had started my search for a business I could run from home. I was contacted by a rep from a company called The Entrepreneurs Source about franchises that could be run from my home and did not required investing in a brick and mortar type business. Cool, right?! Only if you do your research and due diligence. The business I bought into was a tutoring franchise. We took out a home equity loan, the full amount of equity on our house at the time. Then the real estate bubble popped in 2008. Between me not having the business figured out and running and going into debt further with live events for training in business building and my husband getting laid off from another job.... We ended up losing the house. I am sparing you a lot of details here. Suffice it to say that this was a huge lesson. Just the first big one.

It was another example of acting out of fear. I have stopped beating myself up about it as much. Not all of losing the house was my fault and we made the choices together. Hubby has to remind me of that now and then when I get on a negative spiral. I can come out of it more quickly now. Being happy with what I have helps with that.

Have a great rest of your Saturday!

Thank you for this post. I think so many people put out there all the positives and the huge accomplishments they have accumulated with affiliate marketing. Not many people are open about how difficult it can be to get on this road and STAY on this road. You are brave for sharing your story. Get back on that horse!!
