Big Changes on Liotes & Ourpick
Around a month ago, we published the post about the future major changes in Liotes, where Achim explained a general idea around it and how it will work... Maybe it didn't look like a big deal at first sight, but there were a lot more things that are connected with that...
Around the same time, we recorded another video where I (ph1102) explained more in detail about the @Ourpick curation project and how we want to continue developing it... I was delaying the publication of this video, but it's time to share it as we are close to the first token distribution! For some of you, the information inside this video could be of big importance as we will make some major changes regarding our curation practices...
We began our project over 2.5 years ago, by creating something completely different that other Hive-Engine project owners were doing... Something like 100% backing up your tokens with HIVE POWER, that recently, we saw that others began to do too! So, leading by example could work, even if you are running a relatively small project... As it works, we would like to be one of the pioneers with a different approach to curation with our stake...

I think it's a good move to be more selective as rewarding low effort farming posts doesn't make any sense. That is great to offer more rewards for the top positions in the Liotes community. It is great that you guys give so much support to the community.
We do expect some hits in delegated HP to our .voter, but in the long term, we do believe that the approach explained in the video is only valid, fair, and constructive for the HIVE in general...
If more people recognize the real values, I suppose that we will get more support for what we are doing...

I think it's a risky move but I think it's also a brave one! I believe it's always worth it when you are doing the right thing so all the best! Have been with the project for a long time now and you have my support!
It is a "risky" move from the perspective of losing potential delegations, and probably some of the current delegations... But, we think that it's the best way to go forward, not just for our project, but for HIVE in general!

We are also excited about the first token distribution! It will not be some huge amount, but it's important to clarify that all tokens were BOUGHT from the market and not minted... Also, the future rewards will grow, month by month as they will compound... Knowing that our token has a relatively stable price, that means more value in the future!
It is encouraging to see that the tokens have been purchased in the market, a fact that reflects the strong support they are receiving from investors. It is even more satisfying to know that future rewards will be increasing, which provides even more value in the future. Since their cost remains relatively stable, this bodes well for their development.

Let me look at this. I'm interested to see if this will work. It is a very good idea and spot on, but every road to hell is usually paved with good intentions.
I think I mentioned somewhere the so-called "quality content". Even as a curator for Ecency, I dare say I have some experience with that. I can still recognize those really low-level posts, but it's hard to judge what is really very good, excellent content because it depends much more on personal preferences and I have reduced my criteria a bit based on my experience.
As I said, we will see where this goes.
Yes, I remember you commenting on the "quality content" which was one of the topics in the #HHHLive show in the Ecency discord on Wednesday... And we had a talk about that in the show, too! (btw. if you want to check out the complete show, you can find the recordings here)...
In our curation, the main idea is to keep it the most possible "independent", without prejudice about the stake, token ownership, etc... So, the main accent isn't on finding the Pulitzer prize-winning posts every day, but on distributing rewards to different people, from different communities, not checking their number of X tokens, their badges, tribes, etc.

Hmm, I don't know what the content has to do with how many tokens or stakes someone has. Manual curation is always about how you personally feel about a piece of content. And there are big cultural differences between what I like and what someone else likes from a completely different part of the world. That's why Ecency has curators who are very different from each other and who make completely independent judgments about which posts deserve a boost and which don't. Let's say it's kind of decentralized. But there has to be a minimum, of course.
I'm glad that we share the same vision... We are only 4 curators at the moment, but as our stake grows, we will grow our team...
It's good that you recorded this video walking, because you sound so tired that I could understand every word hahaha. Working with you is really motivating me to improve my English and I'm glad to hear that changes are coming for the growth of the project. I have just started to focus on my personal growth in Hive, but despite the limitations of time and language I want to help and contribute as much as I can. I think those are some good changes. It's better for the project and Hive in the long run if we can have that mindset here on Hive. I still haven't delegated out any HP but that is because I want a 5% upvote passing the dust threshold at minimum with some buffer.

It is tough to select quality posts, there are many people who try to follow postin guidelines they know about, but I think you should vote low efforts posts with lower vote value just for encouragement and it should not be included in the pick.
But changes do happen for a reason, and you must put it before community for votes.
Believe me, Ourpick curation has just a few "guidelines" regarding the content that we curate and they are just basic ones, to not upvoting plagiarized content and similar... "Quality" post is a huge variety of things and having more curators help in supporting different content as currently, we are 4 people with different views and opinions... And we find that great... Adding more curators in the future will help in the even better diversification of supported posts...
That's a good thing about your curation program, but do you curate only HP or LEN holders or is it general curation of selected posts only?
That's exactly what we want to avoid... The misunderstanding is that people have to have delegated HP to us to be picked and upvoted... No, we don't curate ONLY HP or LEN holders... For the @Ourpick sub-project, we pick posts OUTSIDE our community (but if there is some outstanding post from our community members, we do pick those too sometimes) and search for good content all around HIVE... As our HP grows, we will add more curators and go even more by picking more posts in general...
Also, we will continue to support good posts from our community too, but with manual checks, as we were doing until now (no automatic upvotes, no "guarantee upvotes, or anything similar)...
This post was more like a reminder of how we do curation and in which direction we plan to go... As I said in the video, we are still a small curation project, but we think that rewarding ONLY good content is the best way to go, for the HIVE network in general!
Now, I have much clarity on the curation program, because I also want to participate in curating content and I think it is good to start from here, if you are looking for a curator in future, do not forget me.
It is good to know that you guys are well concerned about how well the curation program can flourish.

all changes which are made for a better cause should be supported. whether it will work or not, and all those Up and down are just part of a process, you should not worry it too much.
most important thing is that you know where you are going, because some of the projects here on Hive don't even know where they are going 🤣

Sounds like a good idea focusing on quality content. The only problem I see here is divergence between the definitions of "quality". But I know what you mean by it, and for Liotes / Our Pick, I think it's a good fit.
To be honest, it is more to not fall into the same trap that is building up... We don't want to be a project that requires memberships or to go into the automatic mode of doing things...
We are doing a lot of manual work here, not that we couldn't do it differently, but more because we want to keep it like that... Things like these replies on people's comments, Liotes missions where we listen to what people say, how people "feel" about HIVE, even Ourpick picks where we insist on leaving comments on picked posts... It's important to show people that someone cares about their content...
If not, all this would be just another Steem, or a fake social network with fake people and fake copy/paste content... Nobody wants that...
