This one is easy to answer, certainly for me it was the oneup project that had everything to be incredible and huge and until a certain point it was, but it seems that things went off track and the project died, at least that's what I know to this day , many people simply left the project, leaving a few curators and no major news announced as far as I know.

We were quite enthousiastic about the project because we had a similar idea but it just went down the hill without much efforts to stop the fall.

I don't follow up many of the hive project, some of the P3E project is not looking good. Stardom sucks I think, since it is almost the copycat of Risingstargame, but the value of this token vanishes far too soon. And then Hivepunk, after the initial hype when the NFt is released, I don't see much progress of this punk.
let me know if I miss something on those project.

hive punk has re-ran againt, own 5 NFT and you can request your post to be reviewed for a $2 upvote

Really? That was the use case?

Sounds a bit unreal that the use case would be selling upvotes with owning NFTs...

I never saw why we should invest in these hivepunk NFT's. They had no use cases and many hive influencers were promoting them for no good reason.

I think I just got caught in Fomo BigTime. But I only have an NFT, so not much of a loss. In terms of token depreciation, I think Leo got me the most. !LOLZ

Im curious to see what projects, we have a scorched landscape of them behind us. I guess for me the loss of value in most tribe tokens due to the high inflation is disappointing and makes them not worth collecting.

0

The whole business model of tribe tokens is flawed. They don't generate any value and it's only a matter of time until the inflation reduces the value of the tokens.

I think one thing that often discourages projects is the lack of appreciation for the user who tries to engage with the project... sometimes the person spends months trying to support the project, but it remains in a bubble, where only a few they feel and are valued, with this lack of appreciation, people sometimes even end up leaving the hive.

0
0
0.000
avatar

That's a very good point. A lot of project communicate top to bottom and don't realise how important it is to show appreciation to the people who support them in a way or an other.

0

I myself had projects that I gave up on, due to not being recognized and talking to my friends, many also ended up giving up, it's complicated, for example, if you write a post that took hours to create and it gets, for example, 0.15 cents, but many argue: "but recognition comes", if you are not able to maintain a constant number of daily posts and good content, it will be difficult for you to achieve great values without having a large amount invested.

0
0
0.000
avatar

I have to jump here uninvited... I was in that place and you can easily scroll down through my blogpost history (and probably through everyone else) and you will see a lot of posts with a small "money recognition"... It's hard to build an account from zero, for sure...

Regarding money investing, I did invest some in HIVE (don't know how much exactly), but the majority of my HivePower came from things from HIVE... Some from authors/curation rewards, others from tribe tokens converted to HIVE, games, etc... Can't say that it's not about the invested money, but I can say that it's a lot about the community, your niche, followers, people that you support and those who support you...

It's nice to have well-paid posts, but if we keep that as a focus and motivation, we will not last for long... Believe me, I repeat these words to myself too...

Yes, writing for the sake of it is something I love to do, but I was referring mainly to beginners, who sometimes leave it too long and end up getting discouraged. I think the main point today in the hive is unity.

0

Huh... I didn't think about that point for a while... But, I have to say that I experienced that on my skin... and it sucks...
And probably because of that attitude, many tribe tokens went down... :(

Unfortunately almost all tribe tokens are not properly supported. The logical thing would be that if you create a tribe token you have a cash flow to finance it. Whether it's advertising or any other method, but that's not what happens.

0

The whole concept of tribe tokens doesn't really work. They don't manage to generate a revenue that would manage to give value to the token.

0

You are right about that... There was no value "on the other side" to keep the balance... just printing tokens without any idea of tokenomics...

Agree with @shiftrox - it's the ONEUP/Cartel project. It showed a lot of promise and I also showed my support by purchasing their tokens at the initial stage. Not too sure what happened later on.

There was a game named Holy Bread. It could have been better but it changed and disappeared.

I wish the games on Hive collaborate with Splinterlands team for integration into Splinterlands game with some mutual work.
This would be very useful for our ecosystem and Splinterlands

0

I have played this game as well. It wasn't the worst game I believe but then, as many other games on hive, it simply stopped. I agree that sharing the knowledge of SL with other games would profit the ecosystem greatly.

0

avatar

Yea, I used to play that too. I forget the exact details of what happened, but I think the project owner had hired a developer and they parted ways... and he no longer had the ability to update the game. Though he did start up a new project https://thunkgaria.com/ , which I haven't really kept up on 😅

I was very close to the top of the Holy Bread! And was very sad when the game "died"... In my opinion, that concept wasn't bad at all... And it didn't need something big to make it work... maybe just small tweaks in tokenomics...
It's a pity... :(

I didn't invest in any Hive projects as I'm focused on collecting Hive and HBD through blogging. I'm mostly skeptical about P2E games cuz it's hard to find a P2E game that focuses on actual game-play.

0
0

I think that it's pretty difficult for P2E games to be successful. As soon as people want to earn money with a game, they will do everything to optimize their earnings. I see some stupid games like alienworlds on wax being pretty successful. It's difficult to offer a great game play and make sure that the tokenomics remain viable I believe.

Oh, choosing a disappointment is a challenge, as I think each project has its own value. However, if I had to choose, maybe it would be a project that didn't receive the expected commitment or didn't reach the initial goals, like Splinterlands. However, disappointments are nothing more than learning opportunities, so it's important to focus on the positive and move on.

I also see it like that. All the disapointments made me take decisions in a totally different way over time.

I would have to say that it's the tribe tokens. A lot of it didn't really play out the way I thought they would. For example the SPORTS community had some things going for it, but that was kind of abandoned with the owner of the token leaving the discord as well.

0

The concept of sports wasn't too bad. There is a lot of things that could be shared there. Unfortunately, the whole tokenomics concept of these tribes was kind of flawed from the get go.

The SPORTS niche is huge and it's a pity that the tribe didn't survive... I had some high hopes for that one... Was in Top50 of the richlist in one moment...

Ha! There are so many. Where to begin? For me it's probably the OneUp as a few people have mentioned above. They started out with so much energy and then just fizzled when times got tough.

The other one has to be CUB. Especially PolyCUB. I haven't given up on it yet but for all the hype and momentum it carried into it, the results have been disappointing at best. Like I said, I still think there's hope down the road a ways, but it definitely took the wind out of a lot of peoples' sails, not to mention a lot of money out of their pockets.

Have to agree with you CUB and PolyCUB... I went heavy in PolyCUB, and it was pure disappointment... Too many promises, and too many ideas that weren't realized... I don't have any hopes in it and I withdraw all my assets... Even that was complicated as I had been waiting for my withdrawal for over 2 weeks...

I suppose I haven't been on Hive long enough to have had any major disappointments!

Possibly my largest one to date is in the 2nd layer - the DBLN:Hive liquidity pool. It did decrease largely in value due to the decrease in DBLN's price. That said, the rewards from this pool have been pretty nice (additional Hive from fees when I withdraw, plus permanent income-generating tokens such as LGN). So it's not a total loss, but it's possible that the same Hive could've been used more efficiently.

The problem with many HE tokens is that they are not really backed with real value and their price will go down the more tokens are printed over time.

If we consider the old chain as well, I'd say dlive. From Hive alone, there are quite a few minor candidates, but if we stick to big guys, I'd say Land for being postponed for so long, GLS/GLG, and SoulKeep for being distractions that haven't fully materialized yet. Also, I'd have to agree with another commenter, the defi projects from Leo are at best in a conservation state.

What a question to ask after a bear market though, guys, lol!

OOHH this is a super interesting topic! This one I'm glad to see no mention of #slothbuzz :D

I am taking on board a lot of people feeling disappointed with Hive-engine/outpost tokens in general though, when we launched the slothbuzz outpost we had big expectations, unfortunately, the outposts themselves are under developed and cannot advance enough. They're a good 'base' for people to get into Hive-engine but lack any real purpose in the long term. Most users prefer Peakd/Ecency with more features than an outpost (especially since you can use the outpost tags) hence we moved to the open source ecenct build, to advance that even further.

On the token side, most tokens launched into bull market so they made high inflation to cash in, and most lacked any real backing from the devs/team for the long term, this is where slothbuzz shines, we launched into the bear market, with a very low inflation and are backing the tokens on the market to avoid a crash, currently holding the token price just above 1.1 Hive. We still see a lot of users constantly dumping the token to try gain from the price which is unfortunate, it would be great to see what users actually expect from these tokens/platforms or if they just want the quick cashout for Hive. (Maybe that can be next weeks question).

Anyways, feel free to come check out the Sloth.Buz platform, and stock up on those low inflation #slothbuzz tokens.

Thanks for this long comment! Appreciate it!

This one I'm glad to see no mention of #slothbuzz :D

Hehehe... nobody mentioned Slothbuzz, so you are good! :)

Jokes aside, speaking of (other) tribe tokens, you are right in your view, many launched in the bull market, without a clear idea for the long term... Many used that time to get more valuable HIVE tokens by selling their tokens directly on the market, adding fuel to the high inflation even more...

Speaking specifically for Sloth.buzz, I think that maybe you could explain better your niche, as even on HIVE we don't have too many content creators... And if you go into a specific niche, the number of authors can be counted on both hands max... I saw that you swapped to the Ecency frontend which is more powerful than the default Outpost which is outdated...

And regarding your tokens, it is among a couple that we have decided to keep and curate with... We have a small stake in our .voter, but it will grow... :)

Cheers!

EDIT:

it would be great to see what users actually expect from these tokens/platforms or if they just want the quick cashout for Hive. (Maybe that can be next weeks question).

I will steal that idea for my #HHH show in the Ecency Discord... :)

Our niche, it’s an interesting subject. We don’t have one specific niche, and as you point out, most of the niche subjects have little authors. We’re a pretty open community, aimed at supporting all creators who put time and passion into their work. We love content from many genres from music or photography to crypto, gaming and memes!

We like to think of ourselves as an open (yet not ‘general’) hive community. Supporting creators, building connecting and helping Hive grow as a whole. We support most posts under the #slothbuzz tag, except those aimed at “milking” the reward pools, eg small worthless giveaway posts/ AI generated posts and even to an extent the low effort actifit posts, we sloths can’t be seen as too active, even if we do buzz!

We see Hive as a place for users to build their content and following, and aim to support passionate users on their journey.

Our main goal is to develop and grow on Hive, onboarding users and creating a place for everyone, from the slowest sloths to the buzziest buzzers! There’s something for everyone at sloth.buzz.

When is your Ecency event? I’ll need to try swing by sometime and catch a show!

I like your way of thinking and I really hope that sloth.buzz will stand out among tribes as a good example...

When is your Ecency event? I’ll need to try swing by sometime and catch a show!

It's not that I've been doing them for ages... 😃 It was just 3rd show this Wednesday... The idea is to do them on Wednesdays at 6 PM CET... (the next one is probably not as I'm going to a HIVE meetup)
Anyway, I announce them in my posts...

Thanks for your interest!

Its Splinterlands for me....

The point of get Rewarded for pülaying it got lost by the last changings... Cards only usable if you OWN land which is expensive as hell to buy... its no PLAY 2 Earn anymore ... it got changed into a PAY 2 WIN system

Becasue you OWN your cards right but it doesnt fit anymore if im not allowed to trade or sell my cards anymore , so then there is no income for playing this game anymore

Also the REWARDS at all went so massively down

A lot of things changed in the Splinterlands, that's true... It looks like the initial setup wasn't sustainable and they had to change things and tweak certain rewards... We will see how it will go in the future...

Interesting reading the comments, @ph1102 mentioned it in his blog.
Being a newcomer in my eyes to Hive I love hearing the oldtimers. I think 1Up was all the rage when I joined or was it Cartel or was it one and the same thing.
I startedon Splinterlands but I think that is when crypto winter started so that just tanked, in fact down and down it went. Rising Star i bought the million SIM for about $70 if I remember, now don't play except doing the millionair mision for a while.
All these tribes and all these tokens, well if you believe in the tribe then go for it.
Games I guess will be the hardest to turn a big profit in this economy.

People should just buy BTC but it's boring just doing that.

It was more/less the same thing... IMO, too many different people who were suddenly the co-owners of the project and they didn't know what was doing what... In the end, one guy had to do it all, and he gave up (maybe for now, if I'm informed well)...

You are mixing games, but I got you... All games when down, or better said their token lost value... Some more, others even more... Some developers still working on their games, trying to fix issues and patch the holes in tokenomics... We will see if that is possible or not shortly...

That's always the final conclusion of investing in crypto... 😃

Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion on this!

No specific project but I would say most of the tribe tokens that I have been collecting, lol! Not closing the doors for them though, it's the bear market and who knows some of them will wake up when the bull run comes hehe.

Yeah, it looks like many are disappointed with tribe tokens... THere is a chance that 2-3 tribe tokens survive, but I'm afraid that the rest will not...
We will see soon... :)

Yes, not all of them will which is sad but that's just how things are :)

Since I've been at Hive it's not that I've invested too much in any second-layer projects but the little I have done has mostly ended up being a disappointment concerning tribes tokens.

But if anything, in particular, I would mention is PolyCub, there was so much fuzz about it and it all went down the drain.

In conclusion, for now, I'd rather concentrate on growing my HP.

I would say that you made a good decision, to focus on your HP!

I have probably tried everything possible to try, and maybe 3-4 projects (from dozens and dozens) have survived... The rest, unfortunately, do not...
