How much time do you spend in front of a screen?
As a parent, I always have the feeling that my kids spend too much time in front of a screen. Of course, this is often a subject of discussion and also of conflict. Yesterday, my son told me „but Dady, you spend even more time than me on screens...“. I decided to contradict him and made some calculations, just to realize that he was actually quite right... That led me to the question of the mission for today:

I am sitting here adding up the time and I spend
entirely to much time in front of a screen.
Between what I do here on Hive and a few other things
that I mess with and then just time searching the web,
then you can add on gaming.
Depending on the day of the week and how much offline
work I do I spend anywhere from 4 to 8 hours a day in
front of a screen.
Sometimes, I think that people who have real offline jobs are doing better with screens. When accumulating an onscreen job with hive and games... the screen time can become pretty impressive :-)

Hmm, good question. I would estimate around 12hours more or less. That, of course, includes day work !LOL I'd love to spend less time than that. But it is what it is right now. I have cut down on mobile use though as I moved my mainstream social media apps to an old phone I hardly check anymore. 🙃

It is the same here and I have a timer for them, but my wife suggested I should have a timer too! I guess my screen time could be 10hrs or so a day as I work on a computer.

Hello family!
I work in front of the computer, so I estimate that with leisure, hive and more work I should spend around 10 to 12 hours a day.
I believe that the evolution of technology has caused a large increase in hours worked, in the past even for you to talk to a person sometimes you couldn't because you didn't have a cell phone or landline, today the person can be somewhere far away from the city, and even so you will have a way to contact.
A lot of the things we are doing are channeled over screens nowadays and I agree that it takes an increasing part of our daily time. Sometimes, I have the feeling it's too much :-)

My average screen time per day might be 10, can be more on some days and lesser on others especially when I'm out of the house.
He tends to surprise me quite often. He is witty and he always finds something to answer when criticised :-)

I spend way too much time in front of the screen. I try to justify it by saying that it is split between earning income, playing games and social. But then all three of those is on the Hive Platform. !LOL
In all honesty it is over 8 hours per day more than I did when I was actually working all day at a computer.
I totally get that. It's the same for me. In the past I spent all day working in front of a computer but now, thanks to hive, I spend even more time in front of a screen than before.

The answer of your son make me laugh, he's genius and keep an eye on his Dad 😸 my screen time is about 7 hour's and i think it's too much and it should be only 5 hour's
I think that would be quite a reasonable amount but it's not easy to reach especially when you count all the time spent on the phone or in front of tv.

Including time spent on Hive and Splinterlands, I think it's a lot. I don't even dare to check. Probably most of my awake time minus when I am eating. Hahaha. It used to be lesser. Lol!

I've been spending a lot of hours, because I work as a programmer and then I'm at least 8 hours in front of the screen at work, when I get home, I can say that it's another 3 or 4 hours in front of my pc to create something for the hive, watch a series or play something, so stay there, between 11 and 12 hours a day.
Your days are pretty filled with screen time. As a programmer there is not much you can do without a screen lol. What kind of programming do you do ?
Sorry for the delay, I work with a system for desktops, retail stores, so in this case my knowledge is in visual basic 6, C# .NET and PostgreSQL database.
I'm thinking a lot about trying to learn python, to start trying to do some developments for hive, but this is still a project for the future.

Since my job entails video editing and Zoom recordings, I would have to say I probably spend at least ten to twelve hours a day in front of a screen if you count my gaming time after work.
Well our jobs sometimes require that we spend more time in front of a screen that we would like. For me the problem is that I feel my free time with screens as well...

Are you the kind of guy that wakes up when somebody switches off the screens 🤣. I know somebody like that. He falls always asleep with tv on and wakes up when we try to switch the tv off :-)
nope, that's my mom. she always wake up everytime we turn off the TV. I am a guy who wakes all the people in the house in the middle of the night because of sudden high volume TV. I do not know why, commercial adds song and sounds seldom get glitched and became outloud during night to morning.

It's a good question, my main work I hardly use it, but for my leisure (video games, programming, and cell phone) I should spend about 6 hours in front of the screen a day 😅.
You are lucky that you don't spend your work time in front of a screen. That helps to keep a balance I believe :-)

Probably about 6 hours a day. More on weekends. My business requires some computer work and then of course all the games I have to keep up on, not to mention reading and voting. I take that back, probably closer to 8 hours. :-)
Since I started on the blockchain, I think that my screen time to deal with my stuff on hive has gone up at a rate of 1 hour per day per year... It starts to be slightly worring :-)

Well, as the saying goes, kids do what you do, not what you say 😅 I probably spend most of my time in front of a screen :/ Mostly on the computer working or for entertainment, or occasionally in front of a TV screen.
There are so many screens to choose from lol. I often take some resolutions to switch off my computer... then I sit down and take the phone out 😅

Screens are my working environment, somewhere between 10-15 hours... but not always... for example, today will be less than 1 hour, I spent all day driving :)

Hahaha... You are not alone... I'm trying the same for years... lol... But, I was worse in the past when I wouldn't go out of the house for days doing something on the computer 0-24... Lately, I'm going at least once per day out for a long walk...
But, you are right... We should reduce screen time a lot more... I would say that a max of 8-9 hours if you are doing an "online" job is acceptable...

Far too much! I've noticed my mobile screen time has been down recently, mostly because I'm sitting at the laptop most of the day! I must spend more than 50% of my time at one screen or another! Luckily it's mostly (partially) productive stuff I'm doing, like building on Hive!
That's a good excuse that I'm using very often... lol... I mean, it's a valid excuse, but we should spend less time for sure... We could be productive in less time with more focus... 😂
You're right! Trying to shift myself up a gear, started using a standing desk more often, set my targets on the '5am club' with more focus on embracing the morning (and day). There's always improvements to be made, sloth steps!

This is a great question, Achim.
If not for having to sleep, I would likely be in the 20 hrs. range.
Considering that I use a computer at work as well as at home for all things Hive, I would guess 12-15 hours because I will also take a break from my computer in my office and go chill out in the living room, and before you know it I am either on my phone or my laptop that I keep next to my "spot" in the living room.
This is an excellent post, @liotes, because this is something we should all be thinking about.
