Cybersecurity: Tips on how to secure your crypto wallet

Airdrop seasons are here, which presents an opportunity for fraudsters and hackers to abscond with gullible people's money. So I was in the Cryptoholic's show earlier today in the @leofinance discord room hosted by two speakers which are @l337m45732 (I forgot about the other speaker's name), and these two guys spoke extensively on varieties of topics ranging from gaming to AI to airdrops and Scam tokens. A lot was said, but valuable lessons and tips which one could easily relate to were also discussed.

So the other speaker said that he was almost hacked just recently as he wanted to claim an airdrop. He said he got the link to where he was supposed to connect his crypto wallet in the official discord group of the project. Unknown to him, hackers had already gotten control of the group from the real project owners and were on a spray to defraud many people committed to that project.

After confirming that link was from the official Discord channel, he connected with his airdrop wallet and waited to see if he would get the airdropped tokens. On getting to the discord group, he noticed no one had received any airdropped token and that the discord channel had been hacked. He said he was not bothered as the wallet he connected with was his airdrop wallet containing less than 100 USD.

Now, my point is that anyone could be a wallet hack victim. In as much as you are active and you do lots of airdrops, there is a chance that you will be targeted for a hack. How one avoids this hack and tightens, the wallet defence is up to the user.

My first option is to play it safe and have up to three or more wallets. These wallet use will be different from one another. You may have a wallet as your main wallet where you store your valuable token while also having another wallet as your airdrop wallet. You can go as far as having another wallet for your NFT while having another wallet used in carrying out some trading activities in the dex exchanges. This will protect you well enough.

Never save your private keys online. Always write down your private wallet and be safe offline. This way, if your system is hacked, the hackers will not still have access to your private keys. If a hacker gets his hand on your wallet's private key, it is over, Truly over.

You can store your tokens on cold wallet hardware. This way, your tokens are completely stored offline and can not be hacked. These hackers look for new ways to hack you, so you have to do better to protect yourself and also get enlightened on ways they could achieve it.
