Some days ago, I made a threadstorm basically for Newbies on Hive and those who’d love to learn about few ways to earn more on Hive aside your Hive Post and Curation rewards. It was short and straight to the point, albeit not short of quality.

However, I have decided to turn this into a full post for basically two reasons: The first reason is to expound on the details, to add more “flesh” and points to the key points I earlier gave; and the second reason is to get this knowledge reach as much Hivers as possible so that they will get invaluable insights and become better in exploring Hive.

☆ GETTING STUCK WITH POST AND CURATION REWARDS

Many of us who were introduced into the Hive Ecosystem through the content making route came on board because we heard about this great platform where we can make our content, get appreciation and kind remarks from people, get motivation to grow higher, and earn from our craft. However, at some points, we realized that there is more to Hive than just making posts to earn author reward, or voting on posts to get curation reward. Yes, we realize that you just have to follow @ksam (Sorry, that was a mistake).

Sometimes it gets boring when we just make posts, vote on posts, comment here and there to fulfil the due requirements of engagement in Communities, and voila! We wait, till we make a new post and start afresh. It’s so boring, right? Yes!

But I am here to tell you that Hive is more than that, and the sooner you come to realize this, the sooner you’ll begin to enjoy Hive to the fullest.

☆ 5 WAYS TO EARN ON HIVE ASIDE POST AND CURATION REWARDS

There are more than 20 ways you can earn on Hive, and I remember listing just 10 ways some months ago. Some of those tips where actually difficult for new comers on Hive to understand (for instance, Liquidity Pool), and that is why in this post I would love to share only 5 methods, because these methods will be easier for everyone to understand.

These methods will also help us interact better with the Hive Community, explore Hive better and help us increase our earning potentials on Hive.

The five tips I will share include:

  • Participating in Community Contests
  • Utilizing the 20% APR on HBD Savings
  • Holding Second Layer Tokens that give reward
  • POSHing and POSHTHREADing
  • Get Involved with Blockchain Games

Oh, and the final addition is THREADing!

1. PARTICIPATING IN COMMUNITY CONTESTS

Many Communities and projects on Hive host different unique contests weekly, monthly and seasonally. And the lovely thing about this is that almost all popular niches have different contests available. So, participating in some of these contests not only help you increase your popularity and activeness in the community, but it can also help you earn liquid rewards if your quality content puts you in that spot. Similarly, with the novel Author of the Week project, your beautiful content may also earn you a shot at becoming the Author of the Week in your favorite Community.

So, try and get more active in your favourite Communities, and participate in more Contests! You will surely get to meet more people, become popular and win more liquid rewards.

2. UTILIZING THE 20% APR ON HBD SAVINGS

By making posts on Hive, we earn Hive/HBD rewards after the 7-days window. Many of us, as Newbies, either withdraw these HBD we earn immediately, or we just leave it in the wallet, pending when we plan to withdraw it.

But the truth is that, rather than just leaving it in your wallet, you can send the HBD to your HBD savings and accumulate interest on your Savings.

How does this work?

Moving HBD to savings will generate 20% Annual Percentage Rate or in simple terms Yearly accumulated interest.

For instance, if you put 60 HBD in your savings, 20% of 60HBD is 12 HBD. So, in a year you should have an accrued interest of 12 HBD from the 60 HBD you saved.

However, since the interest accumulates every minute, then in 1 month, you would have made 1 HBD from the 60 HBD you put in your savings.

To break it down even further, in 1 day, you will make up to 0.033 HBD just for putting HBD in savings.

Sweet, right?

The more HBD you have in your savings, the more your interest accumulates, and the more you earn!

3. HOLDING SECOND LAYER TOKENS THAT GIVE REWARD

Second Layer Tokens are tokens that are associated with certain communities or projects but are built on the Hive Ecosystem. There are many tokens, for instance Leo, Neoxag, ProofofBrain, Bro and much more. Each of these tokens has its use case and unique potentials, that is what sets it apart from the rest, and this makes it more appealing or worthy/unworthy of consideration.

There are some Second Layer tokens that when you hold or stake it gives you weekly or monthly reward for HODLing them. Some of these tokens include BRO, LEGION, BXT, UTOPIS and many more. I advise you to Do Your Own Research (DYOR) before purchasing any.

4. POSHing and POSHTHREADing

POSH means Proof Of Share; it is a project that incentivizes those who share their Hive content out to Twitter and Reddit. The idea is to encourage more Hive users to share their wonderful content out to these web2 social media platforms, which can serve as a gateway to onboarding.

It incentivizes users in two ways: the first way is to give out POSH tokens to users that share other people’s posts, and the second way is to give out the Hive liquid rewards on the Posh comments to the posh sharers.

At the moment, POSH is undergoing restructuring because of the setback from Twitter, however, ensure you check out acidyo posts to be updated.

POSHTHREAD is the thread version of POSH; in other words, following the same pattern, it incentivizes those who share their posts or other people’s posts on Threads. Ensure to use the #gosh tag when you share yours or other people’s posts. Also, it will be nice to put in some words about the post, and not just dumping it the way you would when you drop post on #post-promotion channels on Discord.

5. Get Involved with Blockchain Games

Hive is a feeless, fast and safe blockchain, and this makes it a “fertile land” for you to build whatever you want on this great blockchain. This is why there are so many blockchain games that are built on Hive. By Blockchain games, I mean games that are built for fun and relaxation, and you can also earn from them. That is why they are called P2E games, which means Play to Earn games; you play it and you earn.

Many of these games have NFTs that you can sell off for liquid rewards, and by playing in the game also you can also earn tokens when you win battles, quests and much more. Some of these games include Splinterlands, Rising Star, Muterra, WOO, PsyberX, dCrops, Hash Kings and many more.

Some games like dcrops offer you the possibility to stake your crops token and earn Hive rewards for doing so.

Serfdom and Sorcery (@masterrpgbot) is also a Hive game that was just released by the @psyberx team. You can earn from it by playing on discord, and you can use your rewards to build your stats, or you can withdraw your earnings directly to your Hive wallet. The PsyberX land earlier purchased also mines some DBLN tokens daily for you.

Finally, I will end this piece by encouraging you to keep on Threading, because when you thread you can earn in various ways. For instance, you can earn the GM tokens by simply using the #gmfrens tag to greet your friends in the Morning.

As a way of joining in Community Contests, I also encourage you to join in the Thread Adoption Campaign here for a chance to win a huge chunk of the $10,000 prize pool, NFTs and 100k HP for your favourite Community.

Nice write-up 💯.
I know about most of these but some of them are combining with laziness to deal with me... especially the gaming😄

Let me quickly thread this post to earn Gosh token. Lol
This is well explained and I agree with all these except that I am not familiar with most Hive Engine tokens and the games on Hive. I am not a fan of games. So, let me just stick to the ones I know of.
Thanks for sharing.
