Water from storage tank

Greetings everyone! 🙌

Upon seeing this prompt, I would have felt very bad if I hadn't washed the water storage tank in my compound last week. After months of procrastination, last week, I initiated a movement in our compound to wash the water storage tank, which my two neighbors sluggishly agreed to. Personally, I'm not a fan of buying sachets of water to drink because it's costly, and since I drink water a lot, imagine what I would be spending on water monthly if I were to stick to that lifestyle. That's why I always feel the need to wash the tank regularly because that's where I drink from.

As for my neighbors, I often see them buying bags of sachets of water, and sometimes when they are out of cash, I see them sneaking to collect water from the tap to drink. It baffles me because they don't always see the need to wash the tank. Before we washed the one we did last week, it had lasted for about a year, and throughout that time, I used to tell them to assemble to wash it, but whenever the appointed time came, they all disappeared. It made me wonder a lot because even if they're not drinking from it and the water is contaminated actually, germs could get into their mouth when brushing their teeth. Maybe they think the toothpaste has the power to clear them off? No way!

I appreciate their habit of drinking sachet water, but they should stick to it whenever they don't have money to buy, rather than resorting to drinking from the storage tank. Hahaha! 😅

Although washing the tank is not a guarantee that it will be 100% clean, and I believe there's no water out there that's 100% clean, as germs from different sources can find their way in. However, it's still far better than when it's unwashed.

This is why some people go further by adding water purifying liquid to their drinking water fetched into a bucket from the tank. I learned about this when I stayed in my boss's house for about two months before getting my own apartment. When I moved to my house, I decided to use it, but it was costly for me, and in the long run, I couldn't continue with it. Although it's better than buying sachet water at home for drinking, it's just too expensive, which is why I stick to washing the storage tank regularly, say every five months.

In my opinion, I would recommend buying the water purifying liquid to add to the water fetched into the bucket from the tank. If the tank is washed regularly, it will give it the same standard as sachet water. This is more economical than buying sachet water for the whole family or going to a water factory to buy a treated drum/gallon of water.

Thanks for reading.

The day I saw someone washing his tank and the amount of dirt in it, I stopped drinking borehole water o 😅 many people haven't washed their tanks for years, but for people that was their own regularly (at least twice a year), it's ok to drink the water

Truth be told, the rottenness in some of those tanks are nothing to write home about. The first time we washed the one in our compound when I got there, it was totally messy.

How are you guys coping with buying of 'pure water' on a regular??? Omo!
