Politics & I

(Edited)

Greetings everyone.

One of the practices in our world today that I avoid with all seriousness is the game of politics. It's not that I hate it; no, I don't hate it, and I don't like it either. Everything about it, especially the stigma of corruption, gives me a headache, no matter how hard I try to believe that not all political activities are attached to corruption and untruthfulness.

I was once involved in politics, and that happened way back when I was with my parents at the villa. It happened in such a way that I couldn't dodge it because my dad was a leader of one of the major political parties of Nigeria, in our street, and because he had a learned son(me), I was automatically made the secretary of that group

Oh yeah, I was totally in charge of writing anything writable, and for sure, whenever it came to the sharing of money, there was always a tip on the normal share for me.

Nothing wrong; I didn't really feel anything back then because I was only interested in the money, and I had my limits to it. Even when I was the secretary, you couldn't see me going out to stand in the queue under the hot sun to vote. Do you know why? The results were purely manipulative. The good thing is that my dad understood me, and he never forced me to go out.

I knew about politics from the little I experienced when I was at home and also from the things I've heard, but all these became the tip of the iceberg when I worked as an ad-hoc staff in the general election.
As a corps member, we were made to be neutral, we were at the center of the game, and that was when I met the real act of manipulation in election.. That was the moment I shook my head and washed my hands of anything related to politics.
I don't want to paint my nation black, but hey, what I saw was just a game of manipulation....No wonder they say politics is a game.

What if I have the opportunity to go into politics?

From those days, especially from the recent happenings in the general election in my country last year, I vowed I could never go into politics, and if at all I did, I would surely join the winning team and play the game like that. After all, there's no righteousness in politics.

However, for the sake of this prompt, If I'm to venture into politics, I will go in and try as much as possible to tame down the corruption level. Of course, lies, deceit, and corruption can't be completely eradicated from it; we can only tame it a bit.
If I find myself in power, one thing that I will make sure takes place is a free and fair election. I'm not saying this will clear off the corruption level in politics; no. It will give the people the real right to vote and curtail anyone they succeed in voting into power. This is one of the biggest areas where Nigeria's politics is being beaten and battered.... Things will become a little ease if the people are allowed to vote in their preferred candidate.

Politics like you've rightly said is a game, and it is he who knows a strategy that stands the chance of winning
