Give us electricity

Greetings everyone!

I currently live in one of the cities in the southern part of Nigeria, in Delta State. My state is known as one of the biggest oil-producing states in Nigeria. Under normal circumstances, we are not supposed to suffer from some of the issues that some states face regarding social amenities. As is known with the rate of technological advancement, the oil flaring, which is being pushed into the air to fire up the cloud and make the area very hot, can be converted into electricity to serve a big part of such an area. This means that once such is done, that part is not going to depend on general/public electricity for survival, which is a good thing. Despite all this, we still lack electricity in a very rampant manner while the gas flaring is being wasted into the air.

Although there are some parts of my state that receive good electricity from the distribution company, such is not seen in my area. For about three months, especially in the area I live in, there hasn't been a flash of electricity, not to talk of seeing it last for 5 minutes. It began like a joke, and I kept hoping it would be fixed soon, but till now, nothing has been done, and it has made life unbearable for most of us, especially those of us who use electricity in our daily hustles. I use electricity almost every day in my laundry work, and when the issue hadn't occurred, the general electricity used to help a bit because I would make sure to utilize it whenever it came, even at midnight. But for now, it's just too choking. I buy fuel, a large amount of fuel, to run my power generator and also use it to pump water in the compound which our lives are dependent on because water is life.

Does it mean that the people in charge are not aware of the issue?
Why are they quiet about it?

Of course, the government is aware but yet to do anything. I once asked an elderly man in our street about how to go about fixing the issue of light, and the man said the government is not showing interest in fixing the electricity issue, and it's affecting a large number of people because a good portion of the town is affected.

This has been affecting me greatly both at work and in charging my devices. Yes, I put on the generator to attend to my work which I uses such medium to charge my phone and Powerbanks, but recently, I haven't had a lot of work to be burning fuel always, and it has affected the means by which I charge my gadgets.

It became extremely worse last week to this week, and it made me stay offline for a long duration, which has dragged down my activities on this blockchain at least. As it is now, one of the things that will occur now and get me celebrating is the restoration of light. I hope it happens soon.

Thanks for reading.

That hope might take a long time to be restored o. The government only think about themselves first before attending to the masses. You just look for a way to help yourself out maybe you can also add a solar panel to help out with the charging of your gadgets.

Sadly it’s likely got a lot to do with poor management and corruption than anything else. The region has the resources but not the proper management to set things up for the people that live there - which makes me believe it’s due to corruption.

Yeah, that's just the biggest problem, poor management.
Funds to cater for such is always available but these people in charge don't care.
