Cheating as a smart move

I'm someone who easily trusts people, and this lifestyle has gotten me cheated on several occasions. Sometimes I just wish I'm the heart-hardened type that feels no guilt while cheating someone, but our minds are created differently, and I can't just turn to it.
I remember a day when one of the bosses I served once told me that he doesn't have any problem being cheated without knowing, but the day he finds out, that will be the end of the relationship between the person, be it a tinny or big relationship. I adopted this pattern, and I've been living with it. The day I find out that you cheated or are cheating on me, I'll just close the space between us.

Funny enough, we get cheated almost every day when we go out to buy stuff, but we don't attach deep meaning to those because It's more like the norm in society. The most painful ones are those that happened to us from close friends and families. Let me share this recent experience.

I and Harrison were to go visit a wealthy family that had a 'talk of the town' burial ceremony of one of their elderly relatives. In such a place, you can't go and return empty-handed; your pocket must be fattened because this family is stinkingly rich.

Meanwhile, Harrison was not having any money with him to support our transport fare, and I wasn't having enough, so I went to my wallet and converted some coins into fiat.
We got ready moved, and I footed the transportation bill to the place. We got there, and we were well welcomed with two denominations of 1,000 naira notes and four malt Guinness drinks as kolanut.

The kolanut was well received by us through Harrison because he talks aloud (better). We drank the malt while Harrison held the money. We were supposed to have shared the money on the spot, but that won't say well about us, so I just let it be until we're finally leaving...maybe we could use it for transportation, taking us back, as I thought.

When we were set to leave, the man insisted on driving us back in his car, and we became so happy for the savings of that transportation fare.

The movement was so sweet that we got carried away and never thought of sharing the kolanut money, so we let go that day.

The next day, I called Harrison to transfer my N1,000 to me, and guess what he said?
He said his gas ran out that night, and he used the whole money to refill his gas cylinder, and he promised to give me give me later.

Till today, I never received any money from Harrison, and I stopped reminding him when I noticed he was dragging his feet whenever I reminded him of the money.

Although I pretended that I didn't feel hurt by how he boldly used the money by not giving me even half of my share and with the fact that I withdrew my earnings to foot the transportation bill. He didn't take what he did as cheating but rather, he saw it as a smart move.

Gosh! Some people don't have any conscience at all.
