(DE/EN) A day in Alicante - Visiting Castello San Barbara

Alicante erkunden
Die Eröffnungsfeier der Weltmeisterschaft beginnt erst heute Abend. Genug Zeit die Stadt zu erkunden.
Also sind wir mit dem auto zum Hafen gefahren und haben dort geparkt.
Alicante hat einen schönen Yachthafen. Es liegen dort kleine Boote, aber auch größere Yachten vor Anker.
Alicante explore
The opening ceremony of the World Cup doesn't start until tonight. Enough time to explore the city.
So we took the car to the port and parked there.
Alicante has a nice marina. There are small boats, but also larger yachts at anchor.
Castillo san Barbara
Auf dem "Berg" über Alicante liegt das Castillo San Barbara. Aus meiner Sicht die wichtigste Sehenswürdigkeit in Alicante.
Der Weg zu Fuß auf den Berg ist beschwerlich. Man kann einem steilen und steinigen Weg oder der Straße folgen. Man kann aber auch den Bus nehmen (Linie CSB).
Es gibt aber auch noch einen Weg. die Stadt hat einen Aufzug in den Berg bauen lassen, der einen direkt in die Mitte des Castillo führt.
Da wir ein Teammitglied haben, dass nicht ganz so gut zu Fuß ist, haben wir uns für diesen Weg entschieden.
Castillo san Barbara
On the "mountain" above Alicante is the Castillo San Barbara. From my point of view the most important sight in Alicante.
The way up the mountain on foot is arduous. You can follow a steep and stony path or the road. But you can also take the bus (line CSB).
But there is another way. the city has had an elevator built into the mountain that takes you right to the center of the castillo.
Since we have a team member who is not so good on foot, we decided to go this way.
Kommt man aus dem Aufzug findet man sich in einer Art ahnenhalle wieder, mit diversen Wandbehängen und Wappen der Adelshäuser der damaligen Zeit.
Coming out of the elevator, one finds oneself in a kind of ancestral hall, with various wall hangings and coats of arms of the noble houses of the time.
Die wahre Schönheit entfaltet das Castello allerdings, wenn man durch das Portal nach draußen schreitet.
Auf diversen Aussichtsplattformen hat man einen tollen Ausblick über Alicante das Meer und das Umland.
Von ganz oben, hat man auch auch einen guten Blick über das Castello selbst.
The true beauty of the Castello unfolds, however, when you step through the portal to the outside.
On various viewing platforms you have a great view over Alicante, the sea and the surrounding area.
From the top, you also have a good view over the Castello itself.
Die beiden Herren bewachen die Wohnung des Gouverneurs.
Heute dient diese als Ausstellungshalle für Schmuckstücke.
The two gentlemen guard the governor's apartment.
Today it serves as an exhibition hall for jewelry.

Durch die Altstadt zum Strand
Nach dem Castillo sind wir noch durch die Altstadt auf dem weg zur Markthalle gegangen und haben dort etwas getrunken.
Hier habe ich jedoch wenige Bilder gemacht.
Through the old town to the beach
After the Castillo we went through the old town on the way to the market hall and had something to drink there.
I made only a few pictures here.
Heute morgen war der Strand noch recht leer.
Mittags sah es dann anders aus.
Sharky und ich haben uns nicht davon abhalten lassen, nach den Strapazen die Füße ins Wasser zu halten.
This morning the beach was still quite empty.
Then at noon it looked different.
Sharky and I didn't let us stop ourselves from putting our feet in the water after the exertions.
Auf zur Eröffnungsfeier
Nach einem kleinen Snack in unserem Chalet, einer runde im Pool und dem Schreiben dieses Artikels, geht es jetzt zur Eröffnungsfeier des Worldcups wieder an den Hafen.
Danach werden wir uns noch irgendwo ein paar Tapas suchen und dann ins Bettchen wandern, um morgen fit zu sein.
Es heißt früh aufstehen, da wir uns bereits früh morgens ins Turnier einchecken müssen.
Dann gibt es endlich auch Bilder vom Spiel und erste Ergebnisse.

Off to the opening ceremony
After a little snack in our chalet, a lap in the pool and writing this article, we're heading back to the harbor for the opening ceremony of the World Cup.
After that we will look for some tapas somewhere and then go to bed to be fit tomorrow.
It means getting up early, because we have to check into the tournament early in the morning.
Then we will finally have pictures from the game and first results.
