Cultivating Happiness: Gratitude, Self-Compassion, and Positive Thoughts

In life, we are always looking for happiness and emotional well-being, where these two are not only of destiny, but today, in a world that is full of challenges, stressful situations, and feelings, where finding our happiness and emotional balance is a bit difficult, this is one of the priorities of our daily goals.

  • These make us ask questions: What is happiness? What is happiness to you? Is my happiness the same as yours?*

According to: Aristotle (384 a.C.–322 a.C.) Being happy means self-realization and achieving the goals of a human being.

In turn, happiness is also found in small virtues such as being generous, helping others, and being good friends, which are going to sow a beautiful seed that will bear fruit in time. We must understand that happiness is not something momentary but something that is not full, where we feel satisfied, and that it is lasting happiness over time.

While emotional well-being is more than managing our emotions in a healthy way, having positive thoughts and habits that help us grow every day, and learning how to face the challenges of life, With reference to the above, to have happiness and emotional well-being, we must have a number of habits and, in turn, always maintain a positive attitude in our lives, which helps us to have these two factors so important in our lives.

Among some habits we can mention:

Gratitude

This is a habit that, if we put it into practice, is very powerful in our lives, because through it we can achieve happiness. This practice is good to do in the morning or at night.

In the morning, it is nice to wake up to thank God for all that is starting to happen, and in the night, to thank all that you have lived. This helps us to be grateful.

If you want to devote a few minutes to thanking and acknowledging the good things we have in life that are in our lives, it will have a profound impact on your emotional well-being, as it in turn helps to reduce stress as we stop focusing on the bad, improve our mood, and avoid the bitterness and rabies that we can go through if we are only complaining in life.

Giving grace allows us to cultivate a sense of appreciation for what we have. Not only should we give thanks when we receive something from another person, we should not give thanks to what we do and have in our lives, be it something small.

Gratitude begins little by little, and if you include it in your habits, your life will change.

Practice self-compassion:

What if you're demanding more? How are you treating yourself?

Or are you the typical one who criticizes and demands?

You're not comfortable with yourself.

You should know that self-compassion is the ability or the way in which we do not treat ourselves, in the way we don't accept it, but in those moments that we are going through a bad moment, what we do is criticize ourselves and blame ourselves for all the bad, to the point of insulting and hurting ourselves.

Practicing self-compassion helps us face new challenges with strength and emotional balance, as being compressive and kind to ourselves helps us reduce stress, anxiety, and depression and have greater resilience.

In order to make good self-catering, we must bear in mind full attention, acceptance, and self-care; in fact, the first invites us to be in the present, where we observe our thoughts and emotions, as we will eliminate self-criticism and demand.

The second one is that we must recognize that we are human beings, that we are not perfect beings; we can make mistakes, and that our path will be full of complications we must face, but we must know how to face them, that if we fall to learn from them, if we come out winners, we must also learn. Whether it is good or bad, there is always an important lesson, which depends on how we accept it.

Lastly, self-care This part is important because here we need to take care of our physical, emotional, and mental needs, where we have to set boundaries, where you have to look after your bodies, not only demand but also rest, feed your body, nourish it, exercise, dance, and seek activities that bring joy and well-being.

Self-compassion is taking care of ourselves and treating ourselves as we would with a friend or a loved one, because we always think about others; do not forget about ourselves.

Positive Thoughts

Thinking positively can make life easier because it helps us to be a better person, and that makes us strong because, when we have a problem, we will not avoid it, but it will help us explore the way out of it.

Self-compassion should help us to give ourselves self-love, where we must treat ourselves as we treat other people, not be self-critical or hurtful to ourselves. We must take care of our body, feelings, and minds, which have habits that help us care for these three strengths.

Positive thoughts help us to face our problems differently, to look for viable alternatives that make us out of our problems, and to know how to cultivate thoughts that help that the negative is not in our mind if it comes to changing it for a positive one, without stressing us, but to do it with love.

Having these three points in our lives will help us to live in a different way, with solid foundations for a full and fulfilling life. Integrate this into our way of life to form our happiness and emotional well-being.
