Making a Living in Web3: The Opportunities are There. Do You Have the Mindset to Take Them?

We are here for the long run, but that is easier said than done, just as making a living from Web3, it is not a winning lottery ticket as many pretend it to be. Even if a few people got rich overnight, that is not the norm, and you shouldn’t focus your efforts on getting a lucky break.

In his visit to Chain Chatters, Aesthetic.a tells us about how he makes a living on Web3, especially the mindset a person who wants to dedicate full time to Web3 should have.

In this clip:

  • Making a living off Web3 takes a lot of time and effort
  • Working on Web3 is not a lottery ticket that makes you rich at once
  • It presents challenges like how to confront taxation
  • Avoid trading and gambling with money you can’t afford to lose
  • There are job opportunities in Web3, but not many people commit to taking them seriously

Working on Web3 is not equivalent to instant wealth. Instead, it's a journey of calculated risks and informed decisions. It's not about reckless trading or gambling with your assets. It's about making smart, strategic choices that align with your financial goals and risk tolerance.

You also have to consider how to deal with other situations, like taxes. Understanding and confronting these hurdles head-on is crucial for maximizing your earnings and minimizing potential setbacks.

There are diverse job opportunities that abound in Web3, but not many people have the commitment to take these opportunities seriously. Whether you're exploring new career paths or seeking ways to amplify your current ventures, understanding the depth of possibilities within Web3 and dedicating the time and effort required to them is key to unlocking long-term success.

An interesting video - I like his perspective !

I'm fairly averse to trading as an income - it's a bit too close to gambling for my taste. But I also lack the IT skills to be a developer, and probably haven't got enough years left in me to learn them.

So the question for me is that although I've got the mindset, I need to find opportunities beyond pure content creation that can earn a living in Web3 without risking too much actual capital.

I get that it'll be hard work, I already run my own business so hard work doesn't worry me, it's more about optimising my time to be able to exit my current business (where smaller operators like myself face being edged out by much larger corporations over the next few years) and turn that time into a decent (not greedy) Web3 living.

lol, I should do that more often ! I've lost count of the number of times a short response turns into an essay longer than most people's posts 😁

There's a ton of possibilities for sure on web3 for every day people, investors and devs. You just have to figure out what directions you want to go in. I would say a lot of people that work it though still feel it's more of a hobby then taking it serious.

It takes time and effort to make a decent living out of any profession or trade. One way to go about this is to connect web3 to the regular industries or professions and build on top of the existing systems. It could be as a developer, community manager or as an investor...

Another way to do this is to gain professional acceptance as a token engineer and start formalizing smart contracts/tokenomics for various industries around you. Focus on improving the lives of people and infrastructure if your local societies before becoming more global.
