Trying out META Threads for the first time. My Thoughs and Objections

Do you remember a few days ago, when I found out that META threads would be available in Europe?
Well, now they are!
And of course - I had to try it out. Here is what I have to say right from the beginning!

Among every else, I admit I had forgotten about todays' date. I had set a reminder on Instagram, but I was not reminded! Anyways, about an hour ago, I joined threads and I will describe my experience to you.

Threads is a brand new app

You will have to go to the apps page and download it.

One of the first things that seemed .. hmmm may I say .."odd", was the information about data linked to me. Financial info, user contact, contact info, browsing, purchases, location .. sensitive info! Other data!?

That's a whole lot of info!

I guess that you may have a public profile on instagram and a private one on threads (or vice versa).

I selected a public one. If you go, go all the way!

I connected my katycrete account and I was asked if I wanted to import my followers from Instagram.

Of course I wanted!

Look who I found - @offgridlife - but he has not posted in 17 weeks! I wonder why.

I also found @actifit and they seem to be active :) Well done Team!

Appearance

It looked a lot like a mix of twitter and Instagram.
My first navigation did not excite me so much. I saw some stock images and videos posted by unknown users.
I did follow a few more and I ll see how it goes.
It would be nice if you could cross post from Instagram to Threads, but I am not sure about this. I will also search if it is possible to use a web version for posting on threads.

I will need to understand how it works because I may suggest it to my cooperators, this is one of the reasons why I had to test it as soon as possible.

Let me share with you two surprising observations!

META threads mentioning Mastodon?
Are they working in bridging their apps with decentralized apps?

And here is something funny

I was on Instagram, and I saw a post from threads in my feed. And that post was about X :)

Final Words

It seems that the users need to give up on keeping their data private if they want to have a social presence in META threads. Do they care? And how will they be compensated for it? Will there be any monetization options? Who knows? For now, nothing is mentioned.

I did not have yet the feeling that something special is brought to the users, I saw a mix of Instagram and X - I will be using it more to understand better what the users there enjoy to do.

I was impressed to see that Mastodon is mentioned, so I will be looking for more information about it.
