NEW! You can now add social media links to your Google My Business Local Profile

I am sure that everyone reading this has, at some point of their life, searched for a location in Google. Google Locations are very important for local businesses and many business owners are managing their Google My Business Profiles.

If you are managing a Google My Business Profile, you should know that as of now (recently), you may now add many of the business social media channels in the profile!

This can be both an opportunity for you to optimize the profile of your business, but also to make some extra income by offering this as a service to other businesses!

So, where do you find this?

Log in your business profile and go to 'Edit My Profile'

There, you will see a new section, where you can add Social Profiles.

After you click on Add - you shall see the below

It is a big deal to be able to add 7 extra links for your business, so why not take advantage of it?

It would be great if we could add a custom social media link i.e. hive or anything else we want :) Maybe later

The process will take about 10 minutes until the profiles/links are checked, validated and published.

This is also a magnificent opportunity for some extra $income.
You can search for local businesses on Google and then send emails to the business owners offering to update them at a special price. Some will definitely agree so there are some extra cash your way!

In case you are not familiar with Google My Business, this is what you should know:

Google My Business is a service that complements Google’s maps feature and search functions. Google My Business helps businesses interact with their target audience, as well as provides helpful information to current and potential customers, such as opening hours, phone number, directions, reviews, and more.

Google My Business was launched in June 2014 as a way to integrate Google Places and Google+ Local.

Some statistics about Google My Business are:

  • An average local business receives 1,260 views a month on Google My Business
  • 45% of GMB listings with an appointment scheduler lead to requests for approvals
  • 56% of customer actions on GMB result in website visits
  • 11 photos per listing are ideal for showcasing products and services
  • 64% of consumers have used Google My Business to find contact details for a local business
  • More than 5 percent of views on a Google My Business page result in a conversion

I used Bing for some of the above information

Sounds like a nice idea. Google has been so exciting and rebranded itself as change maker, what is staggering a fact to see.
Nice to know about social media linking, it might help the users to be more opened up to the services and connectivity to the other friends and folks .
