The rise of crypto scams and how to avoid it

Hello Hivers, welcome to my blog.

These days, people are becoming more aware of the need to invest in cryptocurrencies. In fact it is the new normal. Feels like every young man I know is into crypto. And one will expect that since it is the in- thing, people are likely to be knowledgeable about it.

It will interest you to know that not everybody who claim to be into crypto understands how it works. They just know that they can make money from it but do not even know that they can loose everything in a twinkle of an eye because of carelessness and greed.

Every time on the X space, I get series of messages from people I don't know telling me to claim airdrops. I almost fell for one scam one time. Thanks to my friend who helped me do a research and discovered that it was a scam.

My partner fell deeply into this scam trap two years ago. He was asked to pay some money to purchase airdrop and wait after a month for it to be launched. On the said day that it was supposed to be launched, he discovered that there was nothing like that. How these scammers even develop these so- called airdrop baffles me.

You will see it in your trust wallet and it will look so real. I think the level of technology advancement has got its own disadvantages. This will be a discussion for another time. Well, there are some cautious steps to take to stay protected from these scammers. Let's talk about them:

Stop clicking every link you see

How these scammers operate is that they send you links. They will tell you to either register or claim and once you click on these links, you have given them access to hack your phone and wipe your bank account. Be careful of these links.

Be careful of big returns in investment:

This is the bait these scammers use. They know that the economic situation is getting worse and people are eager to make money. So they use the big returns in investment to hold people who are eager to make it big.

Don't trust people who bring deals that look to good to be true. There are overwhelming big returns that really should scare you. Once you start having doubts, please look away.

Look out for free money:

These crypto scammers promise to give free cryptocurrencies or free money. Truth is that it is usually a fake promise. There is definitely no free money anywhere. They just want to hook you with the promise and scam you afterwards.

Do your research:

Ensure you do your research carefully before investing in any cryptocurrency. Find out how the investments works. Ask the necessary questions and ensure you know where your money is going into. Go online and search for the investment. Look out for reviews from people and see what they are saying too.

People who have been scammed will always put out their own personal experience. Search every detail and be knowledgeable first before investing in any cryptocurrency.

Conclusion

Some of these scam can be avoided if we do our due-dilligence. One thing that makes us fall into the hands of scammers is greed. Take greed aside and ensure you put your eyes and ears on the ground before investing in any cryptocurrency.
