Weekend at The Open School Fair in Lima
Hello dear friends of HIVE, I hope you are well. I am happy to share with you again through this beautiful communication of Weekend Experiences and tell you about the wonderful experience I had last Sunday, December 17. I had nothing planned only to buy some supplies to draw, on the way I passed by the market in downtown Lima and I noticed a young man with a megaphone inviting people to enter to see an art exhibition and I was curious to enter, it was good that I did because I had a great weekend experience when I went to visit that place which is the "Feria Escuela Abierta de Lima", it is located in the historic center of the city, it was previously closed due to the pandemic (COVID19) but they reopened its doors to the public, there were different activities, all the exhibits are undertakings of students and artists graduated from the School of Fine Arts.
In the place I could appreciate and be amazed by every object they sold there such as oil paintings, portraits, handicrafts, engravings and I could also enjoy live music.
Here are some pictures of my tour.
On my way after buying my drawing supplies in Ucayali street where there are stores that sell many tools and implements for manual art (Ucayali - name of one of the departments of Peru).
Facade of the main entrance of the School of Fine Arts of Lima, I would have liked that those cars did not cover part of the facade so that the photo is better appreciated. The entrance to the fair is from the side.
Here is the side entrance to the fair where I saw the young man with his megaphone. This entrance is located on a street that is very busy due to the number of merchants selling a little bit of everything from clothes, toys, kitchen utensils, among others.
Letreo Feria Escuela Abierta, admission is completely open to the general public.
Here in the lobby to the right is a hand drawn portrait artist sketching a couple. The whole event was concentrated in the central courtyard of the school.
People walking through the aisles of the place buying and taking pictures of the artists' works.
Some drawings, portraits and paintings of the participants of the fair.
Amigurumi Crafts.
Hand-painted T-shirts and mugs.
Here one of the enterprising artists demonstrating the technique of woodcut engraving.
Some of the sculptures that adorn the courtyard.
This work caught my attention, the Hey Arnold and Bojack Horseman paintings.
Part of the central patio.
Mural with photographs of the events of January 9, 2023. In the city of Juliaca, 18 demonstrators and bystanders suffered injuries that caused their death and a police officer also died in unclear circumstances. All this was due to the strike against the government of the current president Dina Boluarte.
Live Ska music band.
No doubt the things that come out of the blue turn out to be better than when you plan them such as this visit to the Feria Escuela Abierta de Lima which was great. Thanks for reading my post, see you next time 🤗
Looks like a nice fail, but the facade of the building looks more interesting to me. I love the style.
