What Are Your Current Financial Worries?

1000337625.png

My medical expenses over the last seven months have been enormous, and they have depleted a significant portion of my savings. I suffered some losses in December and even more losses in March while attempting to kill two birds with one stone; however, instead of saving money by being frugal, I incurred additional losses. I am used to it. This is not the first time I have taken risks. So I understand consequences.

I also understand that the inverse of consequences is payoff. We rarely think about "consequences" because the potential reward is not only good, but also exhilarating, which is why we frequently push, even when failure is a possibility. In general, we are optimistic about life, especially when everything appears to be going our way.

In the past, I have done things without considering the consequences, because I have seen enough failures to believe that future failures will affect me. A man who is down does not fear further failure. However, no man is infallible, regardless of his confidence, ability, skill, or knowledge, so it turns out that I gambled with the little savings I had and lost a lot of money. I would not call my health-care expenses a gamble.

The global medical system is designed to exploit, with the goal of keeping you on subscription medication rather than curing or healing you. So, if you are sick, you are essentially a pawn in the game. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be healthy forever; even if you are born healthy, life happens. I saw a post on Hive about a young girl with leukemia, who was vibrant and full of life with no risk factors, but unfortunately, life happened, strangely, but it happened, and even if there was not a reason why it happened, it did happen, no matter how slim the chances.

People's dreams are dashed by life, and many people are unaware that their financial situation will be uncertain if unexpected events occur. I can not completely call myself a failure because I tried to be smart. However, it is human nature to blame ourselves when things do not go as planned, even if we could not have done anything to prevent it from happening.

In my case, my plans were supposed to work; in fact, I expected them to work perfectly, but the people who could make them work disappointed me, and I lost a significant portion of my savings. This was what I considered a true loss: I knew I had a chance of success, but the other parties disappointed me. It is life; if you try to be smart and lose, it does not mean you did anything wrong; it simply means you lost and there is no sentiment.

So, what are my worries?

My concern is that I may not be able to afford the subsequent medical bills. The country is experiencing severe inflation, with prices rising by more than 2% per day. I am concerned that if I deplete all of my savings, I will not be able to cover all of my future living expenses, and I am also concerned that the bull market will not arrive in time for me to experience a miraculous redemption.

However, all of these are permutations, and I am referring to Nigeria's unstable economic conditions. One thing is certain in life, and it is not death and taxes: Nigeria's economic conditions are deteriorating over time. Anyway, I have faith. You are welcome to share any worries you have.

Well, we all have to brace ourselves and embrace that which life throws at us while we make efforts to lessen the impart of disease conditions through preventions, early detections, prompt treatments and appropriate rehabilitative measures.
Health insurance though not perfect is a means to such lessened financial burden.

Insurance, of course. However we sure live in a system where even the insurance sectors doesn't function well, but it's a good one nonetheless.

That really sucks... And your worry is well founded. Medical care is expensive everywhere and you have a lot of expensive care and tests. I doubt they will control the inflation any time soon either which is hard on everybody living in the country!

The inflation gets higher, making everything very expensive. There's currently scarcity of fuel which means transportation becomes more expensive. These guys do these things to milk the economy and keep people in poverty. For a regular healthy person it's easy to underestimate medical expenses. Mine worries me a lot.

That I completely understand. I have the same issues as well. Being young and healthy doesn't always last forever!

This is really thoughtful; dealing with health and the also financial stability at the same time is very hard. But between, you should take things easy with yourself, because when there is life, there is hope. Take things slow, one step at a time. I wish you strength!

Financial woes are everywhere for people, it affects much those who are struggling to make both ends met. But one amazing thing is that, when one is looking for wealth and get successful accumulating a big amount, he grows with increasing number of demands to grow more money.

That of course happens for the fact that, as greed is one factor to watch in human mind, it is drive and breeds forth financial woes as well. I have some of woes, but most part of them are covered with low expectations.

It is one thing that guided me to go through tough crisis and settle down in uncertainties.

So, if you are sick, you are essentially a pawn in the game.

I totally agree. The medical system will exploit you without minding, only few have the mercy attitude in them. They assumed you will definitely spend when it comes to recovering fully and whole again. No one wants to be sick because it takes a whole lot, but life happens. We cannot expect not to be sick and this takes our savings down. We just have to keep pushing.

One thing I believe: God will always take care of His children which you are one. I wish you the best and also to be in a good state of health.

It's how it is everywhere in the world but worse in some places like maybe UK, the US and even Nigeria. The goal is to majorly extract more money from people and make them dependent on the system. I heard about the money one needs to book an ambulance in the US and the amount was unbelievable.
Life happens, some people are just not lucky enough.

Yes, I heard it too and I was like, "WTF! That's too outrageous of a price. Just to call an ambulance ooo" may God help us.

Everything is just so out of hand these days.. inflation sucks, one after another financial worry while less or no oppurtunites out there makes it even worse.

It's really hard to find any kind of balance in it but yeah trying to bring some balance by making efforts.

People's dreams are dashed by life, and many people are unaware that their financial situation will be uncertain if unexpected events occur.

This is so true Joe...how unpredictable life can be. Someone can just wake up to unexpected uncertainty and it will start sucking his finances and could turn such a man to poverty overnight. God forbid, even affording medication will be become a hassle. With the way medicals are so expensive in today's harsh economy, some sickness are now costing millions for management and not even treatment..

This is a concern really and worrisome. Talking about my own worry, I never knew that I will watch my son pass through daily routine drugs...the experience hasn't been funny...most times I can't even replace his drugs around me until I go to LUTH with all the stress and finances involved

I also understand your worries and how much you are striving to be well , spending on the process even when the cost of ur medication keeps choking, but one thing I am sure is that God never forsakes His own. We gat to keep faith and trust Him to come through for us in our difficult moments.
All the best, big Joe
Good morning and happy new month!

Managing health is expensive. All my life, I've done this. Only people who do this would understand, just like the situation with your son and how you've been trying to get to afford his medication. Routine drug is a hassle, it's even funnier when you know that one might have to continue buying them for a very long time.
I have bought a lot of numerous medications prescribed by various doctors and mostly all that money have gone to waste.

Only God understand, and only him knows everything. I guess there are questions you'll without getting answers. It's life and it's how it is, evening if sometimes it becomes too hard to endure.

All the best to your son too, and happy new month to you too.

It sucks to hear that and medical costs can definitely add up. I hope you are able to solve your financial and health troubles soon. The inflation doesn't help but I think it will be tough. It relies more on the government providing value to the economy and I don't trust governments to do so.

My financial status worries me. Coupled, especially with the fact that I am in my final semester, and so I am getting to that point.
The economic situation of the country discourages me, and I am seriously bothered about it.

Sorry about your health situation, and I hope you get well soon so your savings don't all go down because of it.

I think financial worries is something that we can all relate to. On many accounts, it seems things are getting worse and everything is out of all. 2% rising prices per day is quite extreme and only a very few people can experience a good standard of living in such a situation.

But I'm hopeful and I pray that things will somehow get better despite all metrics pointing otherwise.

In Nigeria, prices go up per day, and it's crazy how people are capitulating daily earning the same amount of money for years and still paying enormous money for health, feeding, transportation and shelter. It's a terrible economy
