A Quest Towards Sustainability For Hive; What Is your Role?

avatar

Yesterday was another power up day and basically it's still good to know that people are trusting the process and committing their future with hive. While this might feel a little too endearing I believe power ups shows habits and actions that proves loyalty to the long-term and believing in the future that hive is building and a whole lot more.

There's been arguments about powerdowns and powerups in the past and Irrespective of whatever anyone will say, powerdowns sometimes don't signal a quest towards longevity. In reality we're what we make of ourselves irrespective of the fact that we consider ourselves bloggers, vloggers and content creators, we're first of all a community and responsible for the wellbeing of hive in general.

Truth is, we're still early adopters and inasmuch as the chain might be more than five years, hive itself is just about a year old and in preparations for adoption we have to lay a certain standards for adopters to come in.
Some people have argued that the chain makes it difficult for adoption but then people who have advertised with facebook and owned facebook accounts will inadvertently know that facebook has policies and because these policies are difficult to keep up doesn't mean that people has stopped using facebook overtime.

Facebook isn't as complex as a decentralised blockchain as hive and while we must adopt methods to make better; easier sign-ups, less of things like keys, resource credits, voting anatomy and contenting.
We have to understand that striving towards simplicity is something we would try to attain but wouldn't completly attain. Decentralisation is complex, this involves procedures and processes and in our bid to make the chain simpler for adoption, we have to find a way to blend simplicity and sophistication.

Not to lose the focus, it's good to power up, I'm someone who has built my stake over the span of eleven months as a results of powering up. The procedural process of giving and receiving creates a healthy chain that works well.
When people powers up it locks in their hive, create a tendency for less liquidity and more value to the chain. Let's forget about the bull market, when we have the right things being done, Hive will systematically uphold during any market because the value wouldn't really be 100% tied to the swings in bitcoin price movements.

Powerups feels prospectful; iresspective of actions, I tend to support people who deem it worthwhile to powerup and build with the system, call me names but I really don't care, the truth is this means I want my Investments here to eschew longevity, when people take the right actions to protect their Investments, they're indirectly protecting the chain and ensuring long-term goals and plans for the chain and community in general.
Inasmuch we all want to take profit we must find ways to ensure sustainability so that we can gradually grow hive to a sustainable price which of course is another easier way to bring adoption.

Some people have argued that the chain makes it difficult for adoption

I think, whoever does consistent posting / engagement with quality, will not tell that. Here a like costs but people's expectation goes high after few posts only.

You're right, posting and engaging constantly makes it easier, but I doubt people wants to put in that much time. Even it takes time and effort to build a facebook audience

It’s such a nice time to stake up and hodl for the long term.

Haven’t been powering up my hive for a while now. I think it’s me being hooked up with the second layer tokens.

Probably I’ll set a goal for hive power soon. Thanks for the info . It’s really a great way to keep the blockchain alive and healthy.

Do have a great day ahead

we have to find a way to blend simplicity and sophistication.

Agreed, and I like that you see the technical complexity of signup and account maintenance as sophistication. The technical sophistication required can be a way to maintain the quality of our content: one has to have a certain level of commitment and intelligence to be a blogger on Hive. Do we really want to make it easy for the ignorant masses to sign up? Do we want our chain to be as filled with crap as Facebook? Mass adoption would be horrible; let's work on attracting quality.

Yeah I want to agree with you, truth is, its also Important to attract the right audience, inasmuch as we want the "mass" we'd do well to maintain sustainability whereby we'd remain an elite blockchain even if we have other blockchains in the future. Its quite a dicey issue and one that really needs an Important attention to as well. Thanks for your comments

When people who doesn't want to think come to the blockchain, it just end with an account not being used, because they don't understand and they don´t want to, they just want the part of making money.

I Like that part too, I need it in fact, that's how I'm living right now, but I'm trying to grow both, my money and my participation, and I don´t understand everything yet but I'm reading about it to see how to take good decisions.

What excites me with Hive is that is has become so much more than just a decentralized social media platform like it used to be. With more dApps and games coming up daily, it could be so much more.
Sometimes I feel bad that I left for a while, but then we move ahead.
